Re: Stubborn A5000 - no video
I have a A5000 board that won't boot with battery damage and also what looks like electrolytic cap damage from the SMT ones, looking at the pic looks like a sort of trickily substance there not quite battery damage. Have a look at the cap's.

Re: A7000 single slot backplane. New batch.
I would be interested in one, what would be realy useful too would be the addition of the RTC clock chip with a 2032 coin cell on as most A7000's are ravaged with battery acid, which usually takes out this and the IDE data lines, floppy usually survives as routed a different away from the zone of do...

Re: Replica Atom
The Lee Smith Case would be one way to provide a modular case for those that want a case and have a 3D Printer, which could fit different keyboards with the look and size of the Atom. I've had a Acorn Electron 3D scanned by a local company as do CAD work for them and they have a scanner, could ask t...

RiscPC power supply failure
Hi all The power supply in one of my RiscPC's seems to have died, was using it and the supply just died, well stopped working, been a bit temperamental, not opened it yet to have a look, just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue?. From reading the stardot forums, to look at the bridge rec...

Re: For sale: Acorn Electron WiFi cartridges
I wasted several hours with my 3D printer but I couldn't get anything printed. It managed twice to start printing but after 5-10 minutes there was no filament coming out of the nozzle so printing failed. Even manual extrude of filament didn't work. So I guess my printer is ready for the garbage bin...

From my recent experiments in getting 32bit Acorn kit online is the level of expectation in what you are trying achieve. I got my A5000 online using a Wifi modem, from Simultant was the company, found it on ebay, pretends to be a modem as such and uses a Hayes command set, so basically you can telne...

A5000 using Wifi Dongle
Hi All Just something as an experiment on getting the A5000 on wifi, of sorts, Bought a Wifi Dongle on Ebay, connected it up and it worked!, see picture below. Connected to a few BBS's, using Hearsay2, one thing could only get the max baud rate to 19200, can the A5000 do higher 115200?. Next steps s...

Re: RiscPC/Archimedes Monitor recommendations?
Holding a numeric keypad key during power-up changes the monitor type to that value - a quick and easy way to get an Arc to deal with a monitor when you can't see what's going on. I expect you'll want monitor type 0, 3 or 4. https://www.riscosopen.org/wiki/documentation/show/Monitor%20Types Hi Ian ...

Re: Acorn Electron Project Expansions Sound Cartridge
I can buzz out the missing links if people are interested, I would like to learn KiCad but the day job limits my time. The Sound Expansion v3 cartridge maps the ROM to bank 13, using the OE2 line. Re: My first Atom....
The best start is indeed minimum configuration. Then take out the IC's one by one and clean the IC legs and socket before putting it back. Next step is to check if the +5V is available on the IC's and eg pin 1 and 31 op PL6/7. Also switching the 2114's will help if one is broken. Is your Atom still...

Maybe you can get some inspiration from another topic with similar problems: https://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=18020&start=150 Especially focus on the power supply (do all the IC's get their 5V (+/- 5%) and the behaviour of the CPU. What equipment do you have for measuring ...
