Re: Replaced spring keys with microswitches.

What kind of switches are these? It looks a little like the 'tactile' switches I've seen used in calculator rebuilds - they have rather short travel. I used these used switch.JPG They have indeed a short travel. You cant compare these with a mechanical keyboard. But it works fine for me :D Jan

Re: Replaced spring keys with microswitches.

Hi Ken, I used these switches. (4pins) used switch.JPG I guess the ones on eBay are the same. You can buy these with different button heights, from as small as 3,1mm to as high as 15mm total length. So you don't have to buy new key or switch posts by choosing the right height for the micro switches....

Re: Replaced spring keys with microswitches.

Hi Ken, The fix i made, maybe not the best, but it worked fine for me. At first i was very anxious to disassemble the keyboard, cause its very fragile. It was also the only preassembled part in the kit I bought way back in the early eighties. I tried to remove the keyposts from the broken switches. ...

Replaced spring keys with microswitches.

Hi all, As mentioned before, the keyboard of my atom had several broken keys witch I couldn’t fix. The disassembly of the keyboard was a pain in the ass. I broke several more keys with that operation. In the end decided to replace the spring-contacts with micro switches. Since most of the springs wh...

32k ram is more then enough for me :D :D :D :D .
Added battery to it, so I have actual 32k eeprom, to store stuff.

Battery backed 32k Ram

With 32k sram installed i no longer use my atom diskdrive at this moment. For loading programs i use parallel port and an arduino uno. But for this to work, i first got to load a machinecode program into the atom. Do this now by cassette input. Wav file on windows PC. Gets a bit boring now to do it ...

Re: ROM IC24 Acorn Atom #A000-#AFFF

Hi Roland, Thanks for the comment. The reason i made a 4 bit parallel connection to the parallel port is: 1 - I don't intend to use it anymore for connecting to a printer or any other parallel device, except my own stuff :D . 2- Since I am a mechanical engineer and not an ICT specialist i do al thin...

Re: ROM IC24 Acorn Atom #A000-#AFFF

As mentioned before, tried to load a program into the acorn atom via the parallelport. To do this i had to shortcut IC50 , see pic below. ic50 shortcut_s.jpg Idea was to put 8 bit in parallel to port A. Handshake with ca1 and ca2 from the 6522 VIA. Back in the days i had no clue how this device work...

Hello Acorn friends, I know this has been done many times in the past, but just a short note of what i have done. ramboard.jpg Had some W24M512AK 64 kbyte sram chips lying around. W24M512AK.JPG Chipselect pin 22 is just connected to A15 of the 6502. So if address line 15 is low, address #0000 to 7FF...

Why this way and not using the IC24 dumps that are available in the archives or do I miss something ? Hi, Because i don't got any way of loading software into my Acorn except for the cassette input. To program an eprom , you need an eprom programmer for the 2532, wich i don't have. So this is my wa...
