Re: Master 128 Broke...

Unfortunately I don't have the equipment or the knowhow to repair this myself.
Is there anyone here who offers a repair-service?

I also measured the same 5.076V between the first and last pin of the cartridge slots.

Re: Master 128 Broke...

I just noticed something in my first post was omitted, don't know how that happened, I probably deleted the entire sentence while editing. Prior to this happening I was playing around with different ROMS in one of Dave's ARA MkII's and stupidly inserted the cartridge without the casing the wrong way...

Re: Master 128 Broke...

According to my Fluke, 5.076V is being delivered to all 3 motherboard connectors.

Funny thing when I switched it on again to measure.
It powered up fine, then after about 10s I heard a "click" and the video disapeared and the continues tone sounded again.

Re: Master 128 Broke...

I think my Fluke 175 should be able to take any measurement needed.
I‘ll check the voltages of the PSU.
I replacedcit‘s caps about 4 years ago.

Master 128 Broke...

I was playing around with my Master 128, played some Elite and then CTRL-BRK to the prompt. I let it sit there for a couple of minutes while I was looking something up on the interweb, when I heard a relais clicking and a continues tone came from the speaker. I tried power cycling a couple of times,...

Hi Joe,

I hope you‘ll recover soon and stay healthy for many years to come.

Regarding the NOS software, I would be very interested in anything related to the game Elite.

Re: Resto-Modding a Master 128

I went to an automotive spray shop to see if they could scan the paint and match it, but as the original paint is matt, it couldn’t be scanned. The we compared hundreds of paint chips and found RAL 1015 to be the closest match. Cool, 3 drives. I didn’t know the Master could use more than 2 drives. D...

Re: Resto-Modding a Master 128

Finally I had some time to continue work on my project. In fact I just completed it. The plinth received 2 coats of paint (Ral 1015). I then proceeded to install 2 5.25" floppy drives but soon decided I was being silly as I primarily use the Gotek for games/programs. I want to use the Gotek as ...

I would like a pcb, if you have any left.

Thanks,

Sure, if anyone wants just the bare PCB then PM me.
Would an all-inclusive kit be possible?
I can solder myself.

After anightin posted a picture of the soft stretch covers he received from Dario Coutinho, I ordered 2 covers.
One for my Model B+ and one for my Master 128, they were just delivered.
The quality is excellent!

Re: Elite save game from checksum restore?

I may not have explained well enough. The code I’m talking about is a sequence of 10 digits 0-9 that the game generated as part of the Elite contest. Whoever reached Elite could submit the 10 digit code to, I believe, Acornsoft, and then you would get an Elite badge. I’m talking about this 10 digit ...

Elite save game from checksum restore?

Danielj was kind enough to use his Greaseweazle to scan what I presumed was my 36 year old Elite copy for the bbc master. To my embarrassment, the disk turned out to be a lowly PC 5.25”. So I have somehow lost my Elite disk copy 😢 However, back in the day, I always wrote down the code/checksum I got...

Well that’s embarrasing...
I wonder where the Elite disk went, this disk was in the cover I used to write the codes on whenever I did a save.

Thank you very much for testing it for me, you can throw away the disk.

A fantastic soft stretch cover for my ATOM/System 2/3/5 keyboard. Would highly recommend. I simply sent the WxHxD and paid via PP. Cover was posted with tracking from Spain and arrived within a week.
