Re: Second Processor Elite for the Electron

Booted it up on my E2P this morning and it's working well, I think I'll need to read some manuals to fly this :)

Re: Electron Second Processor project

Two Electrons are issue 6 and one issue 2, none have internal upgrades. It works in one of the issue 6's. The plus 1's also have no upgrades but the one it does work in I have modified the internal ROM socket for 16K..although I can't see this influencing the E2P.

Re: Electron Second Processor project

Unfortunately it steadfastly refuses to go faster than 4 MHz despite all my good ideas for mods, so that is a work in progress I just received a 65c816 module to try at 8MHz in the new e2p 512k user port board and had some interesting results. I tried it in three different Electron/Plus 1's and it ...

I also gave my Electron with AP3 and ADFSv1.00 a good long test this morning. Both formatting and *saving files of various sizes in all three MRB modes with no problems.

I was wondering if you had a pcb and the gals rather than a built up board, I'd be able to get the other chips and the idc connectors.
Yes, no problem. The cost of a board and gals is £10.50 + postage. I'll send you a PM.

I'd like to buy a board or kit & case if you have one that isn't earmarked for experiment or others, please.
I've got an E2P board built and tested if you're still looking for one. The parts cost £43.56 so I'm happy to sell it for that plus postage. Please PM me if you'd like it.

Thanks for testv2.zip, it now recovers successfully at default@EDID. The other test results are: 50Hz Test - fails as predicted. 1024x768 - bug fixed. 1440x900@50Hz - blank screen, as expected. 1440x900@60Hz - ok 720x567@50Hz - ok but unusable..characters way too big. 1280x720@50 or 60Hz - both ok a...

Re: Using an Electron with E2P and User Ports as a sequencer

The boards finally arrived this morning :D I built one up and it's been soak testing these last few hours..looking good at 4MHz. It would be interesting if 8MHz is achievable with the 65C816.

Here's few photos: The board, under test and sitting in front of a Pegasus interface.

I'm particularly interested in feedback from anyone that gets no output at all with the default settings as that is one thing I'm trying to avoid by reading the EDID. I've just tried out the new build and I get a blank screen on boot. I am using an old Samsung LE19R88 with a reported screen resolut...

Re: Using an Electron with E2P and User Ports as a sequencer

A quick update on progress: The best way to make it smaller would be to use some kind of programmable logic device to replace all the glue logic on the board iwasjafa kindly produced a PLD which reduced the chip count by five making it possible to keep the board the same width as a Pegasus disc inte...

If you go ahead with this I would be interested in having one of the boards. It would be great if you could incorporate the 512k switching into it! No problem, I'm just completing combining the two circuits so perfect timing to add the 512k modification. Could you email me the changes needed and I'...

I think Derek only has a few spare boards As it was a first order for these boards I was confident to get ten made with the hope I hadn't made any silly mistakes. I've built two and both worked without problems, I'd like to keep a blank leaving seven. I don't know how popular the disc interface is,...

The boards arrived yesterday so I tried fitting one in a case to make sure I'd put the holes in the correct place and that I had moved the IC's enough for the nuts to clear the sockets. Slogger_Peg_fit.jpg Then I built one to test. Slogger_peg_built_case.jpg and it worked :D I did however come acros...

Re: Using an Electron with E2P and User Ports as a sequencer

wouldn't the board end up being massive? The E2P is already pretty big as it is. Thanks, I did some rough measurements this morning and I think I could keep the height the same and make it about 2.5" longer. It will be a sizeable cartridge measuring about 3.3"h x 7.5"w but making it much lower prof...

Re: Using an Electron with E2P and User Ports as a sequencer

Will they stay as 3 (if I have the number right) separate boards or merge? This planted a seed a few weeks back which got me thinking it would be great to merge the second processor with the user ports. This would let me remove the splitter and make the whole system neater. As I didn't design the 2...

My current MRB works ok as long as I switch it on in Normal mode, switching it on in turbo or shadow means I have to switch off again if I select normal. Re: Pegasus 400 board traces.

I hope I moved the IC's up enough on the right hand hole so a nut fits without any mods to the socket.. That'll be the first thing I'll check when the board arrives. I did check it against Prime's schematic and the PCB. I also pulled up pin 1 of the RAM to make it compatible with the larger RAM type...

I recently bought what may have been the last Pegasus interface from Dave H. The board required troubleshooting so I did my homework and read all the threads I could find before I starting to 'bell' out each track for shorts or poor via's. The upshot of all this was that the board turned out to be o...

As the sync interface plugs into the user Port what is to stop the board being used on a beeb or a Master? Yes, the interface board will also work with both the BBC and Master with appropriately written software. Examples on how to do this are in the BBC User guide, I used these examples and change...
