Re: Looking for a tank game I remember

Great - thanks for that. I theres two disks in that archive. The first one contains the game - I can't see what the second disk does. Looking at its contents, there is only a sprite file for the icon and a run file which simply states insert disk one... Unless theres something hidden on the disk. Th...

Games for RPCEmu

Hi, I've just found out that you can download a working copy of RPCEmu set up ad ready to go with RiscOS3.7 - which I've not touched for many years. Where is a good place to get some of the old games? I remember Pandora's Box and a few others... Are they downloadable or still copyright and not free?...

Looking for a tank game I remember

Hi, I remember a tank game, and I'm sure it was on the Archimedies. Essentially the tank was in the middle of the screen and stayed there, and the world moved around the tank (rather than the tank moving). The aim of the game was to hunt out other tanks and destroy them. The whole thing was view fro...

Green shift break disc menu

Hi, Back in the day when I carried a box of 5.25" discs around, I was given a copy of menu that could be used to catalogue the contents of a floppy disk. The menu was an executable file called !Boot, when shift-break was pressed a Mode 7 menu popped up with green bars at the top of the screen, the m...

Gotek case

Hi,

I've set up a Gotek for my BBC Master - and after a bit of fiddling all works well.

I'm thinking it would be nice to get a case for the unit and it looks a little bare bones at the moment.

Can anyone recommend a case - preferably one which looks a little Acornesque if possible.

Thanks.

Re: Graphics extension rom and BBC Master

OK, thanks. It was the Sprite commands that I was specifically interested in, I'll check out the welcome disk.

Do you know if there are any Youtube vidoes etc of someone demoing the sprite commands?

Cheers.

Graphics extension rom and BBC Master

Hi,

I've heard that one of the main differences between the BBC B and Master is that the Master has the routines for the Graphics Extension ROM built into the standard OS.

Is this correct? Do all GXR commands work on a Master?

Thanks.

Re: Gotek doesn't like USB stick

Ok, the stick is already MBR... so I get its not going to work for whatever reason.

Can anyone recommend a memory stick - about 32GB or so that works well with the Gotek?

Preferably a small one like the Cruzer fit:

BBC Master - Sideways Ram jumper

Hi, I have a Master 128 and have removed the Roms from it (Pascal Roms), and now it has nothing other than the standard ROM that contains Basic, MOS, DFS etc. But when I try out a few games that use sideways ram they complain there is not enough available. I think there is a jumper on the board that...

Can anyone recommend some Windows 10 software for creating an SSD file and adding files to it?

I've seen some references to software on this forum, but most of it is very old...

Is there anything new around?

Gotek doesn't like USB stick

Hi, I've set up a Gotek with my Master 128, and using my main USB stick (Sandisk Blade Cruzer 128GB) it works really well. As the Blade Cruzer is overkill for whats needed, I bought a 32GB Sandisk Ultra Fit - a small USB stick. But the Gotek doesn't seem to like this stick - all that happens is the ...

I know this is an old post and I've not read all of the above posts, but I can remember the BASIC code I used draw a circle - I can easily recite it off by heart after 30 something years: 10 XCENTRE = 500 20 YCENTRE = 500 30 RDX = 600 40 RDY = 600 50 FOR G = 0 TO 2*PI STEP PI/30 60 DRAW XCENTRE+RDX*...

Gotek disk drive ribbon

Hi,

I've just bought a Gotek drive for my Master.

I should have guessed that it wouldn't come with a ribbon cable...

What is the spec of the ribbon I need to buy, does it have a name that I can look up on Ebay and buy?

Thanks.

Damn... Just worked out the issue. I installed Smart SPI into IC37 - but found that in *ROMS it wasn't listed at all. I then removed Smart SPI and put the two Pascal roms in IC37 and IC47 - and bingo, the two roms of Pascal were listed in slots 6 and 7. I guess that means that the IC37 slot on the m...
