I'm going to bite the bullet and build the rtty interface on a bread board. I'm just going to build the receive side of the cct. Does anyone know the modern equivalent for the ac187 transistor. Thanks

Thanks for the reply and link. I'm going to use the rtty audio output from my pc. I'm going to search for rtty signals using online access to Software Defined Radios There are about 170 online which allow you to tune shortwave radios remotely.

More problems If to put my ssds on a usb stick (no tricky menu) I can chain a program on my 5.25 I can copy from the 5.25 to to ssd and I can chain it ok If I use trickies menu system I can boot a disk ok.if I save a chain able program from my 5.25 disk to that ssd it wont chain . I just get bad pro...

Rewrote the Minioffice !boot file as *exec boot using *opt4,3 now recognised as added to menu

Is there a method of modify .ssd names without having to use the PC I have transferred ssd,s to my simulant open floppy drive but need to make the ssd names more meaningfull when i browse through the list. Ive got a 3.5 drive comimg to try out
If i decide to sell the teac 5.25 drive uncased with an uncased Aztec psu what would be a fair price Both are working fine.

I always get a formatting error on track 04 0D 16 1Fand verify errors on the same tracks


Exactly the same track errors on both 3.5 disks

I used a head cleaner to no avail and tested both 3.5 drives with one disconnected but still get verify errors Im assuming the heads maybe out of alignment
I m assessing whether its worth trying couple of pc 3.5 drives or cutting my losses

I think you can see from the photos that the wiring has been badly Mickey Moused Can I swap in pc drives. The 5.25 disk works well Its a TEAC FD 55 FR I can access it as drive 0 or 2 and seems to be able to format at 40 or 80 without moving any switches Any more info on this drive? I may just keep i...

Inside the beast Ill disconnect one of the drive from the cable to see if that helps.can i swap out for pc 3.5 drives

There is a manual switch to switch the 5.25 drive in and out.

Ill Try,s but all the ribbon cable for the two 3.5 drives and the 5.25 drive are internal to the plinth.

System seems to auto adjust 40 or 80 tracks when formatting

I've tried adjusting disk timings using the *fx255 calls but makes no difference

I tried the patched dfs 1.22 but still the same problems

Looks like i may need to replace the 3.5 " drives.

3.5 inch drives problem

I have a triple drive for the bbc b badged Achter It has a single 5.25 inch drive and two 3.5 inch 40/80 drives. The 5.25 inch drive is ok but both the 3.5 drives go through the formatting process but fail on track 0 when verifying. I have tried cleaning the heads. Any ideas can I replace the drives...
