Re: Copying disk problem 18

Oh right, can't believe I guessed that right :P , the disk is both 40 and 80 which I was surprised about. It was for AcornSoft turtle graphics if anyone has a copy appreciated. The version of turtle that I've found on this site isn't the AcornSoft one and the commands are slightly different to the A...

Re: Setting up dual drive from single drive and gotek (level of complexity?)

Hi, looks like I've finally sourced a 5 1/4 floppy drive after much messing around, should be with me later in week. I'm bit confused by the ribbon cable needed to connect them, there's lots on the threads saying without twist but also with twist. Is this what I'd need: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/...

Re: BBC games with joystick, download

Thanks just wondering if someone had a compilation that was just joystick games though, cuts out having to run out cross reference against lists then download.

My boys are 3 and are only really able to use a joystick. And any help to save time appreciated as a father of twins!

Thanks Ralph

BBC games with joystick, download

Hi, I've found a list of games that use joystick control but was wondering if anyone is able to upload a zip of any games if anyone has them. Means not having to hunt for each one individually, and meaning can get my kids playing retro games asap. Any games appreciated, so far only got Snapper. Cheers

Re: Loading a ROM into SW Ram - basics

Here is the version that has just the ROM (removed from .SSD then added by myself via beeb).
I'm away from beeb so can't run it to give checksum. If you can see what the difference is with the files and if it's a beebem issue.
Thanks

Re: Loading a ROM into SW Ram - basics

Thanks though don't understand why I can load it to bank 15 fine with one .SSD file but not the identical one I made via beebem.

People who got the error, were you adding the ROM to the SSD using beebem? Or were you still getting the illegal error using other software?

Re: Loading a ROM into SW Ram - basics

Well I take your file SWRUtil and in beebem remove both files using *DESTROY ** I then import the BASICED rom. I eject the disc. Running it on my gotek using *SRLOAD BASICED 8000 15 or using F in place of 15 Once again get the: Illegal address come up. Running BASICED from your file in your SWUtil ....

Re: Loading a ROM into SW Ram - basics

Hi
I had tried the HEX but no luck.

I was just confused by how the version I put together via beebem had the exact 2 files on as the download (which I was able to load and then run fine) but the beebem version had the illegal address come up.
I'm assuming that means it hadn't loaded.

Re: Loading a ROM into SW Ram - basics

You absolute star! This works a treat.
How did you get the ROM onto the .SSD? I have access to a Windows PC at school and the IT support might even install a package if I ask nicely. I'm assuming there is no mac alternative?

Thanks again.

Re: Loading a ROM into SW Ram - basics

Hi Thanks, I've only got a mac at home. So not sure if I'll be able to! To test I was using the .ssd from: http://mdfs.net/Mirror/Image/JGH/ I seemed to be able to run it to my beeb using *SRLOAD name 8000 15, but could no get any further to actually run it, or see if it worked. Any idea how I'd do ...

Loading a ROM into SW Ram - basics

Hi I'm new to this but am getting very lost. I've been reading posts and researching but can't seem to get any closer. What I was hoping to do was find a ROM that I wanted to run and load it into SW Ram Eg: basiced.rom https://github.com/tom-seddon/basic_editor/tree/master/releases/1.40 Then run *ba...

Also as the current gotek works with the DFS I have on there I'm assuming a dual drive would too.

Re: Setting up dual drive from single drive and gotek (level of complexity?)

Wow, thanks. Currently the gotek is powered from the beeb would both be able to be powered from the beeb. As if not I would know to look out for a mains powered floppy drive.
