Re: A resurfaced Beeb user :-)

Hi. [Already posted this message elsewhere, but including it here in case you didn't know] I have given up with the existing web hosting - they banned me because they said I was getting too many hits and instead of throttling as they used to, they now just say I violated their T&Cs and take me down ...

Re: Electron Plus 1 ROM emulation and SD interface using an STM32F4

Not had chance to build the mini version yet (doing a major Attic sortout - didn't realise how many Electron games I have :-) ) I will put it in a small plastic case from RS components that will fit directly and discreetly into the back of the Electron, but for info, below are pics of the three boar...

Re: Replacement Keyboard LEDs

LEDs are cheap enough - just replace all three. Not only brightness will be different but also the actual colour (as mentioned previously in this thread). I could never get old and new looking the same in a panel that I had to fix - in the end I replaced the lot (OCD cutting in!) Don't get the high ...

Re: Electron Plus 1 ROM emulation and SD interface using an STM32F4

Hi. I received the mini board with the built-in SD card today that has the 25MHz crystal. IMG_20190520_133607_resized_20190520_014053167.jpg You mentioned changing #define HSE_VALUE ((uint32_t)8000000) to #define HSE_VALUE ((uint32_t)25000000) but do I also change the PLL params (PLL_M currently set...

Re: Electron Plus 1 ROM emulation and SD interface using an STM32F4

Success :-) Using your latest branch (with config limits set to 0 and 255 - no need to jump at the end of travel) all ADVALs are closely matching the Plus-1 (pinout connections as shown in my previous post). I have tried it on a few games successfully (all Acornsoft) - Monsters, Snapper, Hopper, St...

Re: Electron Plus 1 ROM emulation and SD interface using an STM32F4

Hi Mark, yep - I forgot about the last ADC conversion bits - been quite a few years :-) The STM32 board implemenation is nearly there, but there is an issue... Joystick 1 left-right is updating ADVAL(1) AND ALSO (INCORRECTLY) ADVAL(4) Joystick 2 up-down isn't working because it should be updating A...

Re: Electron Plus 1 ROM emulation and SD interface using an STM32F4

Here are the actual readings for joysticks on real Plus-1... When joystics are not connected the A/D converter drops to zero... ADVAL(0)=change (mine shows 1024,768 or 512 but mainly 1024), ADVAL(1)=0,ADVAL(2)=0,ADVAL(3)=0,ADVAL(4)=0 Two joysticks (Voltmace) connected, centred ADVAL(1)=32768 approx...

Standard hair stuff (but the stronger concentration) - the ones in the shop may only be 6% which may not work. Got mine from Amazon. Important to get strong stuff - 12% (also refered to as 40 vol). Pictured below but other brands exist. A 1 litre bottle is quite cheap when bought online. The Retrobr...

Re: Making the most of the sun

Maybe it does a bit (no idea to be honest), but nothing indicates that it has - the plastic comes up perfect and shiny as the original was - no cracking/crazing or whatever. I've used it for a few years on many things - various computers (Amiga, Sharp etc etc), retro HiFi and other gadgets. All come...

Taking advantage of the rare UK sunshine :-) In the last few days I've peroxided... 2 BBC Masters 2 BBC Micros 1 Electron 1 Econet terminator box ... and I have my BBC Master Compact in bits in the sun at the moment - should be done in about an hour. I use 12% (ie. "40 vol") cream pasted straight on...

Hi. Sorry I haven't tested yet - the last few days have been very busy and unfortunately I have had zero hours spare to do anything. Great. I've got some BBC micro joysticks that I can use as they should be electron plus1 compatible. I'll wire them up as soon as I can (prob can't do it today unfortunately). Can't think at the moment what games support joysticks but I think there is a missile command type game that would use the f...

Hi. The balign may not be quite right as far as I can see (unless the code always will immediately follow the .section .rodata entry and that this entry always sets the address pointer to zero (or at least a multiple of 16K). Ah (again)... I see in the code it only loads from disk if the preload flag is not set #ifndef PRELOAD_SOME_ROMS_FROM_FLASH_INSTEAD_OF_SDCARD scan_and_load_roms(); #endif So, one or the other, not a mix/override. I had assumed by the "SOME" in the flag name that it would allow some internal and some...
