Re: The very best Beeb tunes?

Thanks for the suggestions! (keep them coming please)

To be clear: all credit goes to SimonM who created the tools/scripts to convert BBC tunes to the Elk, not me!

The very best Beeb tunes?

SimonM has been doing an amazing job in converting the Bad Apple chiptune (by Inverse Phase) to the Acorn Electron, for use in my version of this well known demo. As you know not many great tunes exist on the Electron. Until now that is! :?: What are (in your humble opinion) the very best Beeb tunes...

Re: MMFS Bad sum?

Thanks Dave. It's my own code that this is happening with. But not very often and I can't reproduce the Bad sum error even on consecutive runs of my program. Will have to investigate further. I thought maybe there could be other causes triggering this error.

MMFS Bad sum?

Sometimes I get the Bad sum error on MMFS 1.41. Not every time and not always at the same place. What are the main causes of this? Using Ramtop hardware on Electron btw

Re: OSWORD &7F on DFS vs MMFS

Based on that, it looks like I did enable interrupts in OSWORD 7F in MMFS 1.37: https://github.com/hoglet67/MMFS/commit/1442abe4de8a7798bc81da397be5b2b93df84d13 Do you have a view as to whether it is right or wrong to do this? Well, I don't have a strong opinion either way but it certainly took me ...

Re: OSWORD &7F on DFS vs MMFS

My interrupt handler wasn't saving the Y register, only A and X because I didn't use Y in a previous version of the code  Apparently DFS didn't care about that but MMFS does. I have a follow up question for you though: does MMFS enable interrupts (CLI) regardless of the fact that they were dis...

Re: OSWORD &7F on DFS vs MMFS

Just to add: my problems with MMFS are solved. My code is now running on DFS as well as on MMFS. Turns out that I made a small mistake in my interrupt driven screen drawing code that wasn't giving any problems on DFS but messed things up on MMFS. Solved!

Re: *SOLVED* Testers wanted! Anyone with Acorn Electron + DFS and/or MMFS hardware

Good news: I have been staring at this problem for days but this evening I found that my interrupt driven screen drawing routine was faulty. It didn't give a problem on DFS but it created a mess when run on MMFS. Consider it SOLVED but I'm pretty sure I am going to need testers again in the future :...

Re: Testers wanted! Anyone with Acorn Electron + DFS and/or MMFS hardware

More details and a first test disk. Assumption: DFS test is working in 3 Acorn Electron emulators. It should work on real DFS hardware AND it should work on MMFS hardware. Reality: I have no real DFS hardware to test on. And my tests fail on 3 different MMFS systems (all EPP based though). Test: loa...

*SOLVED* Testers wanted! Anyone with Acorn Electron + DFS and/or MMFS hardware

I need some help from anyone willing to run a few test programs on an Acorn Electron with any DFS and/or MMFS hardware. I've got some simple sector loading tests working on DFS in all Electron emulators. And I've been testing on a few MMFS hardware solutions that keep failing these simple tests. I h...

Re: Equb equw equd etc

BeebAsm definitely supports a list of comma-separated values after equb/equw/equd/equs. The values can be decimal, hexadecimal, binary, characters and strings. Edit: and variables, labels, macros, etc.

Re: OSWORD &7F on DFS vs MMFS

I have tested on 2 products by Ramtop. The ElkSD64 connected to the Elk expansion port. And the ElkSD-Plus1 which plugs into a cartridge slot of the Plus 1.

What is the expected speed of MMFS on such a setup?

Re: Elaborate Repton 1 Electron Cheat !

I wrote about it on Twitter not long ago:

The loader (REPTON0) of the Electron version is deliberately littered with undocumented NOPs it seems. It doesn't fool my debugger 😉 Execution starts at &2BDF after an initial sneaky BRKV redirection.

OSWORD &7F on DFS vs MMFS

I'm trying some test code doing raw sector reads (OSWORD &7F) on my Acorn Electron on DFS (in an emulator, btw) and on MMFS 1.4x (on a real Electron). My first question: I know MMFS is based on DFS but the underlying medium (SD-card) is much faster. Is MMFS artificially kept at the same speed as DFS...

This is excellent work! =D> =D> =D> I love that you fixed the Repton "trail" while scrolling! The cheats work well though I can't figure out what I can move around (option E). It seems you also removed the 'protection' code in the loader that uses undocumented opcodes, correct? Keep up the good work...
