Re: Weeknight 'Virtual' Dev session #2, Thursday 10th September 2020, 7pm - 10pm

Good work by the way Kelvin, I though I was nuts when I started using multiple sprites for printing...... glad you're doing the same ! Great to see what you are doing as well, Neil. I believe using pre-shifted sprites is quite common, especially on machines with no hardware sprites and an odd scree...

What a great session! Huge thanks to Dave, all presenters and participants.

I got to show my 8-bit shenanigans to not 1, .... not 2,.... but 3 Acorn legends from the 80s! Talk about dreams coming true!

I'll be there. Looking forward to more in depth interrupt trickery. I would like to give a brief update on what I'm working on at the moment (yeah, yeah, new project): a very first working prototype of a platformer on the Elk.

Re: Simulate a cold boot on the Electron

Can confirm. I use this code all the time. Combine with *FX 200,2 or *FX 200,3 (clear memory on BREAK) and your own BREAK intercept handler to have a really hard reset on pressing BREAK. I add this to all my demo effects (that take over the entire Elk) to properly reset the machine on BREAK. I remem...

I tried but the pledge timed out. So I went for the accelerated version. I am backer #737. That's how fast it went

I won't be there for the kick off session tomorrow evening, but I may be interested in attending future dev sessions. I strongly prefer having some structure to (most of) the session, just like the all-day sessions.

Re: Thousands of colours (Acorn Electron)

New and improved! With carefully selected colour combinations this time. Now produces almost no flicker on a real machine. Don't try it in an emulator because it won't look good. Red and magenta also work well but I decided that they would disrupt the "colour flow" too much in this example. colours2...

Re: Thousands of colours (Acorn Electron)

Thanks Roland and Kieran! I can't stand the flicker either unless I watch it through my eyelashes

But... I am pinpointing the colour matches that work best (less flicker!) and putting them in a separate demo that is much easier on the eye.
