Gotek *DIN for the Atom

Hi All, Inspired by Tricky Gotek *DIN for the BBC and the fact that I have an Atom Disc Pack I decided to write the equivalent for the Atom, so here it is. I guess the ultimate plan is to either create a Tricky style menu for the Atom or to create a Gotek version of the Atom startdot menu. The *DIN ...

Re: BBC BASIC timing comparison

I consistently get a time of 35 centiseconds, I'm surprised it's that much faster than yours?

This is on a Pi3B and RiscOS 5.24.

Re: Atom Video to HDMI Adapter

Hi Chris, Glad you got it working. One minor error on the build instructions is that C18 is listed as an 0805 instead of through hole. Fixed now, thanks. Need to spend some time playing with the options now. The display looks slightly squashed to me, so you might want to experiment with different a...

Re: Atom Video to HDMI Adapter

Well, my programmer turned up yesterday so I was able to complete my Atom to HDMI adapter: Atom_RGB-HDMI_All.png Atom_RGB-HDMI_internals.png I'm really pleased with the results, my atom screen has never looked so good, and this on a 1366x768 display. One minor error on the build instructions is that...

Re: Atom Video to HDMI Adapter

My sincerest apologies, I had my board the wrong way round when I compared the two and I hadn't drunk my coffee before posting.

Mines also built, I am also waiting for my programmer to arrive.

Re: Atom Video to HDMI Adapter

I am happy to send you three resistors of 4.7k Its OK Roland, I'll wait until Reichelt sort out my order. Like I said before, I can't program the CPLD just yet anyway. Here's the progress so far, just the HDMI hole to make, add 5 resistors, insert the comparators and get the right spacers for the P...

Re: BBC Model B with random 0 on screen

Is the MK4116N a compatible alternative to HM4816?
A quick look at the datasheet suggests that the MK4116N requires +12V, +5V and -5V supply rails, the HM4816 is only requires +5V.

Re: IDE interfaces - hardware details

My A3000 with ICS IDE interface with V2.02 firmware has only ever had 3 different IDE drives attached, a 40MB WD (the original drive), a 100MB Seagate and a 245MB Seagate, these all worked fine but it's very sample size. The only solution I found for corrupt CF was to switch to ZIDEFS, I was using R...

Re: IDE interfaces - hardware details

Are you sure that you haven't got the large file corruption I had with CF cards, for me it was any single file >300k I think. I should note that not all CF cards suffered from this.

Re: IDE interfaces - hardware details

I have attached ROM images of the IDEFS Version 1.13 and Version 2.02 together with their associated utility files. I can't remember if V2.02 works with RiscOS 2.0 or if it only works with RiscOS 3.10. The IDEUtils2.zip 'ReadMe' file suggest that if you find any bug you should contact some bloke cal...

Re: IDE interfaces - hardware details

Hi, During the wakefield show you sold me one of your nice IDE boards. I read on John Kortink website that only RO 3.1 and higher is supported. Would there be an eprom image which supports RO 2.0 ?. I have a copy of V1.13 ICS firmware that came with my my ICS board that I used with RiscOS 2.0, I ca...

Re: A3000 : what do people use to transfer files to it?

You can plug a full size network podule into the socket on the back of a A3000. You can then use !cFTP for FTP or !Sunfish for NFS transfers. If you go this route you will need to get Uniboot on your IDE drive first to get the network stack. My A3000 has an Atomwide Ethernet IV podule, it works great.

Can you me down for an Atom Video to HDMI Adapter please?

Is there an easy way of switching to monochrome? If not I'm sure I can add something.

Have you written much software over the years? Not much and like a fool I stored my floppies in the loft so most have suffered with disk mold #-o I did write a disk menu system for the Atom, a text based adventure and a driver fro the Timex (Sinclair) thermal printer. On the A3000 I wrote an Atom e...

Long time Acorn user

Hi All, Thought I should introduce myself as I have been reading this forum for a couple of years and finally registered a few week ago. Been using Acorns since 1981/82 and I still have them all. The first was an Acorn Atom, then a beeb and finally a A3000 before I went down the usual PC route. My A...
