Re: Stunt Car Racer for BBC Master

I don’t know what to say that hasn’t been said before...

Definitely a brilliant work!

I’m most surprised by how fast and smooth the game is.

Keep up the good work!

Re: Free to collector

I’d try dumping the second half just in case.

Being mask roms it’s quite unusual for them to be mislabelled.

Awesome stuff!

Does your board have a place for an external character eprom?

Could the output of the board be routed to vga or hdmi monitors?

Keep up the good work!

Re: Hardware pictures?

I totally understand that, thus my point of having better pictures now that bandwidth is not an issue.

We could even send a broken Electron’s ULA to Sean Riddle for decapping.

Like we did with a PCW gate array: http://www.habisoft.com/pcwwiki/doku.ph ... gate_array

Re: Hardware pictures?

Yes, that would be something along the lines, but the general quality of the pictures is dreadful, and to my taste, they are lacking different revisions of the boards (in case there are, but it is usually the case). I usually scan the boards at 300dpi resolution and do both sides. That allows for cr...

Hardware pictures?

I was wondering if there's any place where to find detailed pictures of BBC hardware. I've been quite busy on the Amstrad CPC, Amstrad PCW and Dragon side of things, and I found that having high quality pictures of the different hardware pieces help cataloguing them, diagnosing problems and inspire ...

Or a 6309, which is a 6809 on steroids!

From our benchmark on the Dragon Archive (see http://archive.worldofdragon.org/phpBB3 ... 309#p17017 ), the 6309 is roughly 3 to 4 times faster computing Pi digits.

And the colour monitor rocks! Yes its extremely good - any way I can connect my beeb to it? :D I don’t know if the BBC Micro has RGB output (easy way) or not (not so easy way). The easy way would just require a cable and/or small adapter, while the not so easy one some kind of composite to RGB conv...

Re: Today I received.....

I had (and still have) a CPC464 bitd and all in all it was quite a balanced machine. And the colour monitor rocks! Regarding Locomotive Basic, I think it’s one if the best dialects I’ve used. Before my CPC, I had an Atari 800XL which I loved (and still do), but Atari Basic was too... well... basic. ...

Re: Newbie questions: Programming tools and graphics

Yes, I tried it. Works fine on MacOS under wine but it uses only fixed resolutions for every screen mode, so couldn’t convert a 256x192 image to mode 2 because it scales or pads it to 320x256, which kind of defeats the point. Also, I found quite interesting to do the conversion myself. Being a comma...

Stardate 190127-2055. I managed to set the right parameters and create a small command line program that converts a raw image to the Beeb's screen format. Now, I'm facing a singular problem... Progress! I did a small Basic program that sets mode 1 and then changes the crtc registers. I find Basic quite convenient for trying new stuff 10 MODE 1 20 REM HORIZONTAL (256 PIXELS) 30 ?&FE00=1 40 ?&FE01=64 50 ?&FE00=2 60 ?&FE01=90 70 REM VERTICAL (192 PIXELS) 80 ?&FE00=6 90 ?&FE01=24 100 ?&FE00=4...

Thanks for the nice tips!

Regarding the CRTC, if you set the screen to a Spectrum-like resolution (256x192), would the memory organization be the same as with a regular mode 1?

Thanks a bunch!

Newbie questions: Programming tools and graphics

Hello everyone!

I'd like to make some programming for the Beeb/Electron and would like to know which tools do you guys use for that, how do I load machine code programs, and also how do I access individual pixels in Mode 1 as the memory organisation is quite peculiar.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Solidisk RTC

Hi Nigel, I think that as most of the rom would be empty, some of the address lines of the socket are connected to the RTC instead of the rom. I can see that 3 or 4 pads of the socket don’t have solder on them. Disassembling the RTC rom should show writes into the rom area. That’s my two cents :mrgr...
