Re: MMFS RESET / FORMAT / RESTORE / REPROGRAM ?

Hi Dave, OK So .. Ive removed the ABR and pulled the jumper on J3 gave it a good 30 seconds and refitted J3. Plugged it into the rear slot 0 to 1 and turned the Elk back on. So MMFS doesn't appear on the 'boot' screen anymore and that makes sense as I've just wiped the chip ? Also how long do the ba...

Re: Tape - MMSD CARD

When using LOADROM the load sequence is: (1) find <file> (2) unlock ABR (3)load <file> (4) lock ABR You could try unlocking your ABR first by typing: ?&FCDC=0 then ?&FCDE=0 - this will unlock the ABR regardless of which cartridge slot it’s in. Then you can try LOADROM from tape again. The correct s...

Re: Tape - MMSD CARD

When you saved the contents of the ABR did you save them from the program that ran after typing *ABR ? If you did then read the section describing *LOADROM. you’ll need your tape/tapes of both the saved ABR utilities and the ROM image you need to re-load. ABR utils tape first: /*run LOSDROM <file n...

Re: Tape - MMSD CARD

The ROM image is probably corrupted, the fix is to reinstall. If that doesn't work its time to try other things. That's the one and only thing you need to try to do at this point. (and to prevent it in the future, make sure you've backed up what's on the ABR as originally suggested :)) Hi daniel, I...

Re: Tape - MMSD CARD

That beeb.mmb is an old one of mine which was under development - I did not realise it was out in the wild. The Elite error is because that ssd is corrupt - I don't think it is accessed by the games menu which is probably on disc image 0 or 100. The beeb.mmb to use is here https://stardot.org.uk/fo...

A screenshot of the commands you typed and the error you get would be helpful.
Pictures of issue. This time when i first booted the boot screen failed to load BASIC before the command prompt. Switchin it off and on again resolved that though. Still got the failure to load however.

Re: Tape - MMSD CARD

It's not clear when you are getting 'ERROR' and you mention folders - there are no folders in this system. There are disc images and possibly directories in those images accessed with *DIR dirname, though commonly SSD files only have a root directory $, any others will be a single character, A or B...

Re: Tape - MMSD CARD

MMC card interfaces connect to the user port and use a MMC or sometimes a SD card. That card is formated FAT or sometimes FAT32 on a PC - depending on the ROM software used in the BBC. A beeb.mmb file is copied to the root directory of the card - usually the only file on the card. beeb.mmb files ar...
