Re: This is not a language

Just want to let you know that my master is working again. Mark at Retroclinic get it going. On the first trip I sent the board and the keyboard to Mark. He found nothing wrong with it. He changed the VTI ULA because they are known for all sort of problems and also the LS259. The keyboard wasn't wot...

Thanks for the tips!
Because of my bad eys (glaucoma) I can't do this myself. Now it's really time to send it to retroclinic.
I've already contacted Marc and will send the board and keyboard next week on it's journey to him :-)

Re: This is not a language

You are right - there is a problem with the LED. Turning on the Master only the middle LED is on (Caps Lock?).
Caps Lock and Shift lock have no effect - no LED is turning on or off.....

Ergh... OK - the only other thing to change out (as you've said you have no test gear) is IC10? It's a 74LS259, and should be fairly easy to get hold of?
OK - lets try to do this ;-) I must always bring my devices to an electrician because I can't solder this myself :-)

Before the PSU repair the Master worked ok - I think I wait for the new chip, socket the chip and see whats happening. :-)

Re: This is not a language

I've found something in the Master Service Manual about exactly my problem: 7.1.10 The computer powers up in terminal mode, and *configure will not change it. 1 Check 1 and 2 in the section above. 2 Check all connections to the clock/RAM chip IC11 for open circuits or short circuits. Section above: ...

I've also a question to this topic :-) I've built in a socket for the ROM chip and it's working OK with the original ROM. Then I've programmed a 27C256B eprom with the patched ROM POS100.BIN (for using UEF files). When I start the Electron with this ROM the screen turns yellow and after that showing...

Master PSU repair

I've got a BBC Master 128K. I wanted to repair the power supply and I am not sure if the three capacitors have not already been changed by the previous owner. In any case, the battery has already been replaced. I have taken a few pictures - maybe the specialists can judge if the capacitors have alre...
