Re: Please help with another blooming "I just got a BEEB from Ebay" thread :-)

Thanks, sorry I'm confused what do I use the db9 serial cable for, the mouse?

I thought I plugged the mouse into the DIN socket at the rear of the keyboard?

Re: Please help with another blooming "I just got a BEEB from Ebay" thread :-)

On the mouse front I just grabbed a A$15 amiga to PS2 kit and a A$10 sega megadrive 2 to scart cable.

Hack up the cable and solder the wires to the pads where the DB9 would normally go.

Re: Please help with another blooming "I just got a BEEB from Ebay" thread :-)

Thanks everyone, OK so the keyboard arrived , I cleaned it up and plugged it in, no workie. So I start looking at the motherboard, continuity tests tell me that of the three tracks the two outer tracks are damaged. I "juiced" the traces, gave them a light rub, cleaned them up and low and behold the ...

Re: wanted: smallymouse2

Thanks, happy to have a used one for 15 quid. Where I'm at: I just purchased 10 processors for 30 quid. If the boards are under 100x100mm then I should be able to get 10 of them for 4 quid from pcbway, i have other stuff to order so I can spread the postage across a bunch of stuff, the rest of the b...

wanted: smallymouse2

Hi,

I'm looking for a Acorn smallymouse2 at around the 15 quid mark and for someone to pop it in an envelope to Oz, can someone please help, the ones on ebay are expensive.

Update: I will be in the UK next week so I might even be able to grab it locally?

Thanks.

Re: Please help with another blooming "I just got a BEEB from Ebay" thread :-)

Thanks again Daniel that would be awesome and I will happily cover your costs, I was considering having a bunch made at PCBWay but obviously I only need one and the shipping is killer for low quantities, any ideas where I can get the keyboard connector cable and AT90USB1287 cost effectively in tiny ...

On the other hand, getting a mouse seems to be an issue, are they rare, does anyone have a spare one I can buy?

Thanks, I don't have a keyboard so I'm assuming the VGA goes to sleep after a minute or so because the screen goes blank?

Re: Please help with another blooming "I just got a BEEB from Ebay" thread :-)

-12v is part of the ATX spec so it should be very easy to replace, I found this: 5V was the back-bias voltage for 3-rail DRAMs, in the era of 16kbit DRAMs. These used 5V for the interface, 12V to power the storage, and -5V to provide negative bias to the chip substrate. Without -5V, all 16384 storag...

Re: Please help with another blooming "I just got a BEEB from Ebay" thread :-)

BTW I still haven't figured out which voltages on the PSU go to which pins on PL26, it's a bit of a showstopper, the images I can find of the PSU suggest 5v, 12v, ground and -12v (I can't see a mention of -5v maybe [thankfully] that was an older Acorn)? Getting late here, my instincts tell me someth...

Re: Please help with another blooming "I just got a BEEB from Ebay" thread :-)

I have 10 cheap PS/2 roller ball mice so I'm happy to hack one or two up if anyone knows how?

Ebay seems to have a lot of the smallymouse2, I could get that but where does it connect to?

Ideally I would have a PS/2 keyboard and mouse that I already own connected to my A4000.

Re: Please help with another blooming "I just got a BEEB from Ebay" thread :-)

Thank you!

What does a garbled BIOS look like, it's a good sign, yes?

I can probably make on of these PIC16F628A things, or are they available assembled online?

Any idea what the power pinout is on PL26 (I might be losing my vision, I can't see it on the drawings), I need to wire that correctly?
