Re: Beta Tester(s) wanted for Text Adventure (Follow-up to SIGMA Experiment)

Thanks, Lee.
While you were doing that I had a moment of inspiration  and I should be able to make a bit more progress now. Not sure how far I might be from the end though. Perhaps just a few more things to get in place...

My Econet Podule from IanS arrived safely after a long journey. Here it is with Econet module fitted and ready to go into the RiscPC. Re: a3020 not showing disk drive icon.

Hi Andy If you check the ribbon cable connector to the floppy drive it could be that it's misaligned. When I was working on my RiscPC I found that the bottom row of holes in the connector would slip onto the top row of pins very easily without me realizing and presented the same symptoms you describ...

I'm getting a bit more in tune with this game but still very erratic.

Mostly I just try to hang in there until luck comes along!

The Application Accelerator has its own little booklet which I''ll scan and upload as soon as possible.
That's now added to the original post.

Do you have the Level 4 Administrator's Guide too? I'm curious if there's anything in there about the Application Accelerator.

Re: Acorn Econet - Broadcast Loader and Application Accelerator

The correct file extension for what DImager spits out is ".adf" (Acorn Disk File). But the Stardot forum software is a bit picky -- so you'll also need to zip them up before it'll let you upload them. I didn't change the file type of the files made by !DImager as I tested that they can be used to r...

Re: Acorn Econet - Broadcast Loader and Application Accelerator

Finally I have FTP working and I've copied the AUN disc images to my notebook ready... well, not quite ready, to upload.

I imaged the discs with !DImager and on the notebook they are type "file" and unable to be attached to a post. Should I rename them to a specific type?

Re: Updating RiscPC System for Networking - Need Advice

What FTP server software are you using on the Win7 machine? The path on the client will be relative to the root directory configured for your FTP server, so "/" on the client will map to "G:\FTP" on your server. Thanks for your advice! I'm using Windows Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. ...

Re: Updating RiscPC System for Networking - Need Advice

You shouldn't have had to merge !System from the ROOL archive if you installed from the HardDisc4 one... that should have just worked. Hi and thanks for the replies. Just to clarify, I had already installed the AcornSSL module and this allowed me to use FTPc but without getting a connection to the FTP server. Updating RiscPC System for Networking - Need Advice

In another post I asked where to find the AcornSSL module needed for !FTPc. Having installed the module, the FTPc program was able to run but the connection failed and the log showed that the error is in resolving the host name. I then downloaded System Resources (https://www.riscosopen.org/content/...

If you can't find it anywhere else, it's hiding inside !Boot.Resources.!System.350.Modules.Network on the "Nightly Beta HardDisc4" archive on the ROOL website Thanks for that.
