Re: Replacement 20mm mouse balls

Bit of a bump to this thread - I've had an issue with the ball in my "Type 1" mouse. Basically looks like the rubber has hardened and acquired a "mottled" surface as you can see from the pics. This also seems to have caused it to shrink a little and it's not quite engaging the rollers properly any m...

Re: Retro upgrades, value for money, eBay & why bother?

Debugging projects takes time and sometimes extra equipment that cost money. Don't I know it. A3000 RAM :( I spent days getting to the bottom of that. And that sort of effort doesn't go unnoticed. For me personally, it gives me confidence to buy from people on a forum I'd otherwise not know from Ad...

Surprisingly, they do currently claim to have one, if you have £250 burning a hole in your pocket

They also list A3000 ARM3 upgrades, at a typical CJE price.
Typical!

Re: Acorn A3000 ARM 3

Hi Joka80 If you're after an (original) ARM3 upgrade for an A3000, your options are basically:- 1. religiously check a certain well known auction site on the off-chance that a machine which already has an ARM3 upgrade fitted comes up for sale, which you can cannibalise (and provided it's not so phys...

Thanks for the patience guys!

Still fumbling around a bit with an OS I last used in anger about 3 decades ago.

Yes, I have 4MB so will give ADFFS a try Jon. Next joy is getting that onto my Arc but that I can manage!

Bit of background - this was the first game I played on the A3000 my family had BITD - bought retail from the Computer Depot on Buchanan Street in Glasgow (shop is long gone). During a recent house move, I re-discovered this game and Enter the Realm which I'd held onto as "keepsakes" when we sold th...

Re: New A3000 4MB memory

Probably a dumb question, but would it make any difference if you were using an internal or external podule? (Asking as I'm using an IanS ide podule on my A3000, but the 16bit version plugged into the external expansion port on the back, instead of an internal 8bit ide minipodule (as I want to retai...

Re: New A3000 4MB memory

Slightly dumb question, but is this board one which will fit perpendicular to, or parallel with, the motherboard?

I ask because if the former (and it looks from your schematic that it is), that's great, but if the latter, it will foul a recently fitted Arm3 on my motherboard...

Re: IDE interfaces - hardware details

Do these work on a3000, and support biggish hds ? Both would work on an A3000 (the only machine with an 8-bit internal podule slot and an external 16-bit podule connector) This sounds great. Reason being I have the internal podule slot and backplane on my A3000 filled with a user port / analogue po...

Vaguely Remember my Beeb coming from Leamington spa (!) in 1987. When we moved to Scotland My Acorn place was "The Computer Depot" - In an old building at 205 Buchanan street Glasgow. I think they were a chain as there was a place in Edinburgh as well. They did all the 8/16/32 bit stuff, spectrum/A...

LCD screen to use with A3000 (and lurker delurks!)

Have been viewing these forums for some time as an unregistered user but finally registered today - mostly prompted by a recent acquisition of the same time of machine I had in my younger days from a well known auction site! Contained an original battery which was pristine and non-leaking (!!!) but ...
