Re: Why was BBC BASIC so fast?

Good hardware, very very well optimised basic etc etc There were quite a few benchmarks where bbc micro could better the ST and Amiga. Especially ones designed to test how good the basic interpreter was. I believe there was 1 other 8 bit machine with a well optimised basic in rom that was as fast if...

Before you start, please read my post here. Dave H :D They didn’t work cos of the screen mode contention but I believe that has workarounds that others solved. Another solver of that may be 64k Master ram mode. Also maybe UEU may have uncontended modes potentially? At moment I just thought it may b...

Also anyone recommend some software i can have a play with and see if can produce a full circuit diagram of the board :) Before you start, please read my post here. then Fujitsu ARM 40core processors are in worlds new top supercomputer as well. The fact we could and are starting to see arm CPU’s in kinda desktop cpu/socket packages could be interesting and reckon it will give arm Linux a wee boost as they could slip in there as alternative OS for the new deskto...

Nice,

Messaged a while back asking if he could maybe scan the board (I see how he can’t reply) least we have the scans which by sounds of it may make it reasonably doable to have a cartridge that will do econet or take a master/a3000 module.

Brilliant.

Wonder if non Nula doom would play on pi 2nd processor? Should tax the tube bus timings (would 2nd processor version of elite maybe run). What were the gloom pins on eepizza’s v6 board designed to interface with? Any specific hardware?

I am bloody good as digging on the internet so could maybe find something that may work with your board without a total re-design.

Re: A/B 6502 switcher project

Wasn't it fixed for the PIAS10 release? Yes, it seems it was, and there is a copy here: http://www.stairwaytohell.com/bbc/archive/diskimages/SuperiorReRelease/ I just tried that version on my Master with the original 65SC12 and it works fine. So looks like I can't lay claim to being the first perso...

Re: A blitter for the beeb?

Hoglet just modified the bbc Fpga core to add RDY to write cycles and change to rising edge and Zalaga now plays on master. Just to be clear, it was the ICE-6502 implentation I tweaked, not the Beeb Fpga Core. These are different projects. Ah braw, proves the point that should work but hadn’t reali...

Re: A/B 6502 switcher project

No example and expect the other way round needs more thinking about due to masters memory. Stuntcar racer I guess would be a possible example as it uses every scrap of memory going in a master. So a setup the other way round would need to figure out memory to allow mos 3.5 to run probably and not br...

Re: A/B 6502 switcher project

I've just done the following experiment... 1. Made up a 32-pin to 28-pin ROM adapter so I could reprogram the master MegaROM (I don't own a MultiOS): IMG_1906.JPG 2. Programmed it with an OS 1.20 version of the MegaROM, plus a suitable version of MMFS. 3. Booted up my Master with the original 65SC1...

Did the master RDY get merged in to t65 core?

If yes and your master has multi os does Zalaga run either in mos for master or bbc version when using the soft cpu?

Re: A/B 6502 switcher project

Actually looks like a blitter for beeb project has beaten me to it.

He actually mentions merging In the RDY commands.

So imagine a master with multi-os and blitter soft cpu would give it the missing bbc commands and maybe the bbc any missing master commands if both gonna run one core.

Same idea as 64k mode, they used the 2nd processor As it had more basic memory so wrote it to point it worked then compressed and streamlined code to fit the 32k

Re: A/B 6502 switcher project

I'd suggest taking a step back from that, and try to get an NMOS 6502 working in the Master first. Once you've determined what's needed for that to work, then you can start designing the 2-way solution you're working towards. I have hypothesis about what might be going wrong here.... Instead of clo...

Re: Zezito and Ambrosia's Potions - Acorn Electron 32K

If not using graphics tricks (illegals coding) the a 64k elk could be used to code it before you try and compress the code down to fit. Otherwise maybe coding it on a 2nd processor before compressing code may be way to do it. Know a fair few bbc and master coders used to use a 2nd processor to gain...

Re: A/B 6502 switcher project

So, Other question then. Is there any 6502 CPU’s that include the undocumented stuff used in bbc b but don’t ignore the RDY? Also what in the system does the clock stretch? Is it hardware or something in the OS? As in if you just drop cpu in master it doesn’t work however if it’s running the BBC B O...
