I must go back to investigating the Electron PSU. As capable as it is, it’s working way beyond its design specifications. So a replacement, I think, would be appreciated by users who like expanding

Similar type of setup. It's an ATPL Sidewise + ROM board. The manual and a photo can be found at 8bs.com.

Re: Looking for inspiration - debugging E2P

Hi, I reversed engineered the internal mode 7 mk2 board some years ago to see if I could repair my board. The drawings I made along with photocopies of the pcb layouts can be found here: http://www.bygonebytes.co.uk/electron.html They've not been double checked so may not be 100% accurate but hopef...

Re: B+ Raspberry PI 2nd Processor issue

Fixed it. I found that a wire from the sideways RAM connecting to a chip on the motherboard had parted company. My poor soldering at fault . All's working fine now and I've update the software on the Raspbery Pi Zero to the latest version. Now for a night of Elite enhanced (e.g. with 2nd proce...

Re: B+ Raspberry PI 2nd Processor issue

I’m not see the boot message for Tube on my B+. I see that the Raspberry PI is powered and I’m using DFS 2.26 which should have the Tube code. Should I change a setting in a config file on the SD card? In general, you should not need to change any settings in the config file to get a working system...

Raspberry Pi to 1MHz bus interface
I think.

Re: Please run a little test on your Electron

With AP5, AP6, Plus 1, BeebSCSI, Pegasus 400 it works just fine. If I add the Raspberry PI 2nd Processor with the standard 6502 it doesn't work. For MMFS MicroSD Mk1 from Ramtop, I'll need to find a Micro SD card small enough (no bigger than 8gb). I had one I was using, but I've put it somewhere saf...

Re: Which Gotek for a Plus 3?

I’d visit Mark at RetroClinic. He can provide you with a ready Gotek. Either email him or visit his eBay shop.

If you want to add the Gotek as a second drive you’ll need an adaptor which you can pickup from Dave H. He also has some other upgrades for the Plus 3 like ADFS with PAGE at E00.

Gotek is the best way to go. Dave H on this forum has an adaptor to add a Gotek as a second drive and has a version of ADFS with PAGE at E00 (useful for games that need more memory) which plugs into the Plus 3.

I’m 99% certain that it doesn’t work with SCSI - But I’ll double check tomorrow for you.

The advantages, for disc drive operation is the ‘bug’ fix and some on-board utilities.

I don’t know how familiar you are with using a Gotek drive, but you have to select\load the disc image on the Gotek before you use the Electron disc commands. You’ll need to press the load\eject button. BTW, please check which file system you are using either DFS or ADFS. You’ll need the right disc ...

ADFS PRES with SCSI code - BeebSCSI

I saw this information today about ADFS for the Electron:

Code: Select all

ADFS 1.0x is for the Electron
ADFS 1.1x is PRES ADFS for the Electron with SCSI hard drive
http://mdfs.net/System/ROMs/Filing/Disk/Acorn/ADFS.txt

Does PRES ADFS 1.1x work with BeebSCSI and are there any advantages over Acorn ADFS 1.0?

Re: Acorn Plus 1, Plus 3 with Gotek

The P.R.E.S./ACP ROM does NOT keep page at E00 and the SCSI code HAS been removed - Boo, Hiss  . You'll need the specific E00 version that loads from disc and it will require 2 banks of RAM. As an aside, JGH has looked at the code for this and thinks it could be modified to work within 1 bank ...
