Re: Second Processor Elite for the Electron

I don't if it can be easily changed, but in the 2nd processor version you start with a complete ship with loads of money. It would be nice, like the non-2nd processor version, to have the option to start with a basic ship and a 100 credits.

Re: Electron modern storage options

I also do have a TZXDuino with the latest Maxduino firmware - I understand they are supposed to be able to load uncompressed .UEF files? I've tried a few of those and I can't seem to get the TZXDuino to recognise them. The procedure I have been using is to unzip the downloaded .zip, which gives me ...

Re: Electron modern storage options

ElkSD is great solution, not only do you get to use DFS (filing system) disk images e.g. SSD extension, you also get sideways RAM and do not need any addons to the Electron. If you want to use a Gotek, you'll need additional hardware either a Plus 3 (and an adaptor), or Plus 1 with a disk controller...

As far as I know, there is no emulator which is suitable for this.
It works in MAME! This is configured with Electron, AP6, Pegasus 400, AP5, Acorn 6502 2nd Processor.

Is there detailed instructions for setting Mame up from the Elk? I struggled the last time I tried this.

I have a Pi + level shifter connected to a Tube cartridge on an Electron, an AP5 would also do the trick.
Ray
The AP5 provides a Tube port for this to work. I would think you would need to provide the Tube in the cartridge on the Master to connect a Pi.

Re: The complete Electron games archive

It seems that finally the solution for me will be to use the ElkSD64 to load .SSD files an the TZXduino to load .UEF files. You could use this tool (PlayUEF) for "playing" uef files https://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13992 Or additional hardware to load UEF from a PC (UPURS) https://www....

Is it possible to directly comvert UEF to SSD files? If not, is it possible to play the UEF files (with an TZXduino for example) and "capture" and "dump" the data to be saved in SSD format?
You could try the method described here viewtopic.php?t=8123#p85702

There's a massive collection of disk images (DFS and ADFS), UEF images, books, magazines etc available at http://www.acornelectron.co.uk/c-dvd.html, at a very reasonable price.

Re: A new MENU system for MMC/Gotek

On the Elkulator disc menu I have checked the three options (Plus 3 enable, ADFS enable and DFS enable) so, it should load DFS files from Tricky compilation without problem isn't it? With all of these enabled you’ll need to use the command *DISK to select DFS, or *ADFS for ADFS. If you don’t want A...

Re: A new MENU system for MMC/Gotek

There are two different file systems available for the Electron\Elkulator, ADFS and DFS. Tricky’s collection of disk images are for the Beeb and are DFS. The hint is the file extension e.g. .ssd -single sided disk, The Elkulator can be configured for both. You can download disk images from https://w...

Re: Recommended BBC Model B upgrades

I’ve tried both Gotek and MMFS SD card solutions and I do prefer using the Gotek for ease of use with disk images e.g. no need to mess around with mmb file on the SD card containing all the disk images. Speed performance is just fine with Gotek and gives a nice retro experience. Regarding loading DF...

Re: Recommended BBC Model B upgrades

If you go for Gotek, then you may want to consider upgrading the disk controller if it isn’t already a 1770. Retroclinic can provide an upgrade. Also make sure your DFS version is 2.26. If you would like hard disk storage then a BeebSCSI is the way to go. Martin B is selling some kit for this. You’l...

Re: Gotek case

The cases you did were probably a bit more of a tricky shape, not sure if that adds to cost. Might be as much as twice as much volume for a Gotek, but even if that double/trebled the price to £30, would still be considerably cheaper than £110. When you see these prices: 3D printed https://www.ebay....

I would be interested in a couple of cases if a run was to go ahead. Either 3D printed or metal at a reasonable price.

Another wish would be for a retro styled cheese wegde case (e.g. 2nd processor) for raspberry pi zero.

Re: Teething troubles with 'new-to-me' Elk

A picture of the screen output would help and knowing which motherboard issue (e.g. a picture of the inside of the Elk).

Try a minimum setup first e.g. only the Elk. If this works one by one add the additional hardware to see what happens.
