Re: I2C 4 U

Hi Martin - The first thing I did before anything else was to disable the 2nd processor - Hey presto it works!!

Shame it can't work with a second processor though.

Thanks for your advice always appreciated!

Just need to sort out the battery charge circuit issue!

Re: I2C 4 U

Hi Martin et al. I'm trying to get a ZS-042 DS3231 RTC module working on my BEEB using Martins I2C ROM. As per the screenshot, I do get an ack from the unit but I'm unable to run the basic programs to display the clock or temp graph. The clock just displays 0:0:0 and doesn't move. I appear to get no...

Re: CP/M text Editor Required

I have to say that the support I've received regarding the thread has been outstanding! My problem has been completely resolved. I'm now using the version of VDE supplied by Coeus and using the *key commands, I have now mapped the control buttons to the cursor keys! and most importantly no more load...

Ahhh that explains why I couldn't read the file.

Changed to .ssd and all works now!

Re: CP/M text Editor Required

Coeus -

Superb effort here. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post. I'll give it all a go and see how I get on.

Really appreciate the time you've taken to explain.

Thankyou

CP/M text Editor Required

Hi All, Can anyone suggest a really good CP/M text editor for the BBC please? ED for me is completely unusable and I'm currently using VDE - unfortunately I have to load STEM as a ROM and invoke VT52 emulation before I can use the editor (it also uses fiddly CTRL cmds to navigate and use the editor)...

Re: I2C 4 U

Didn't realise until about 30 mins ago that this sort of thing existed for the BEEB -

Just ordered an RTC module to connect up to your ROM and start my own i2c playing.......

Once I've got it working - I'm gonna build something to rival the met office..... [-o<

Thanks Martin. =D>

Re: ECONET WOES

Hi John,

Interesting comments. If I issue a *TIME or *DATE command via my BEEB Econetted to myRaMagic L3FS, I get a "no response from station 254" error - so it appears not to see anything in relation to a RTC hence why JGH's fix may work (if I ever find out how to implement the code :))

Yep thats correct Andy.

My problem is that I don't know what to do with JGH's code - if you can help that would be appreciated :)

Thanks,

Re: ECONET WOES

Thank you!

However one small problemette....

I have no idea how you use this code to return the date and time.

If I run the NETFS basic program, I'm returned to the command prompt with nothing happening.

I'm sure its gotta be me!

Re: ECONET WOES

Chaps, Econet related question: As you may know, I have a RAMagic board installed on the BEEB I've designated as a Level 3 FS (v1.25) I'd like to be able to access the time via its built in RTC from my other BEEB. Can this be done? If I issue a *TIME command on my other BEEB, I get a "No Reply from ...

Thanks Daniel,

Agreed its not ideal running Level 1 Econet just to do this.

Not to worry.

Thanks for the reply anyway!

Hi All,

Now that I have sorted out my ADFS Gotek issue, Is it possible to access the Gotek drive from one BEEB to another via Econet?

Re: GOTEK and ADFS Issue

Hi All, Just by way of an update to close this thread - I decided to put my 1772 board in a BEEB that has a socketed IC86. I removed the IC and inserted a jumper connecting Pins 1 and 4. After selecting *ADFS and issuing a *Mount 4 command, I successfully read an .ADL file on my Gotek!! Again, thank...

Re: GOTEK and ADFS Issue

Thanks All for the comments... After looking at my previous install of a 1770 board, I realised that I still had the 74LS393 inserted into IC86 which apparently needs to be removed and a wire jumper inserted to connect pins 1 and 4. I didn't do this because the IC is surface mounted! Thats why I had...

Re: GOTEK and ADFS Issue

I did think the same - however! I do have a 1770/1772 board and had that installed today! unfortunately with it installed, the Gotek refused to work at all and I had constant disk faults (mixiture of 8, 10 and 18 drive errors!!!) But is this down to the type of disk controller I have installed then?...

GOTEK and ADFS Issue

Hi Folks, I've recently dusted off some old Goteks and given them a new lease of life on my BEEB. I've flashed them to the latest version of flash floppy (v0.9.19a) and I can now successfully read .SSD and .DSD - success! However, the problem is, I cannot read ADFS .ADL images. If I select an .ADL f...

Re: ECONET WOES

In response to the RTC comments - I've ordered a RaMagic unit (from Martin) for those of you who remember these - I'm hoping it will work once I get the L3FS working. Apparently RAMagic faithfully implements OSWORD 14 Type 1 which returns 7 BCD time bytes as per the Master. I'll see what happens... ...

Re: ECONET WOES

I think I've sussed out why STARTFS stops when I run it..... There is an END command at line 130 - which I think has been pout there so that changes can be made to the number of drives / workstations (line 160) before running FS3-092 to launch the Level3FS. If I remove 130 and launch STARTFS instead...

Thanks Mate! Going through BEEBMASTERS step by step guides, I've assumed I'm using his hacked version to get around the RTC issue! as he doesn't mention this requirement. Thanks Mark, I'll give that a try... As a new update since my last tearful entry, with renewed vim and vigour, I used retroclinics service manual model b schematics... assuming the clock side of the circuit is ok, I started looking art the data side. After some testing if ICs, I found IC93 was not i...
