Only problem with that is I'm the only dishwasher in the house. I've never owned one since I left home in 1982. :D

Elk 3rd Party Floppy Controller

Hi, I recently acquired this controller that slots into the Plus 1. Does anyone have any information on it? I've not plugged it in yet due to its current state - corrosion to various components caused by the leaking battery. IMG_20180127_154625.jpg IMG_20180127_154651.jpg Also, any tips on cleaning ...

Yeah, I should have thought of that before shelling out £7.50 for a 6847 on eBay UK.

* Sadly I can’t supply ICs to repair old Atoms.. Best to go to eBay.com

eBay.com prices (for repairing)

R6522………………...…….$1.50

If you don't mind waiting up to 2 months for delivery... :)

Re: LCD TVs and monitors for use with BBCs

I'm not sure if that one supports TTL RGB. I'd go for the specific one referenced earlier. If you search enough on ebay for a 'SCART to HDMI adaptor' you can find some for ~£20 from a UK based supplier. For an extra ~£5 you could also get a HDMI / VGA adaptor which would allow you to connect the BB...

Re: LCD TVs and monitors for use with BBCs

I know it has been mentioned before, but I would just like to reiterate that the SCART / HDMI adaptors work brilliantly: http://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7818#p83415 This looks like the Maplin one, for which there are a few auctions on ebay. My Cub monitor decided to give up the gho...

Re: Hi from Peterborough, CAMBS

I've just been doing a bit of soldering myself (in my usual ham-fisted way) and got the IDC connector upside down again, so no extra sound for me, I'll update my thread when I can get my phone to talk to my PC to upload some photos. Do you have a desoldering station? Makes removing chips and IDC co...

Yes, tinkering with hardware is fun. IMG_5721.JPG Yes, I know that there is not a CPU in sight. That's because the ZIF socket (itself plugged into a stamped pin DIL socket) is currently in a Acorn model B computer along with a CPU on test... Using a separate test board enables easier current (and t...

Re: Hi from Peterborough, CAMBS

There's just one anomaly - when you power it on the first time, it does the expected POST beeps. If you turn it off and on again with less than 1 minute pause, the first low beep is overlayed with a higher frequency beep - sometimes higher than the second beep. I have an issue 3 Beeb that does exac...

Hi from Peterborough, CAMBS

Hi, Having gleaned some help from a few helpful board members, I thought it was probably about time I introduce myself. I'm an IT consultant who recently returned to my first love as a teenager - electronics. There's nothing like the smell of solder fumes and composite perf board to get the nostalgi...

Re: Acorn ANF03 Project

Thanks to flibble, I should have enough information to complete this project (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13135&p=186895#p186883). It looks like the original fault was a dry joint on L2, which prevented the motor from running.

Acorn ANF03 Project

Hi, I have an ANF03 that's in need of a lot of love. It looks like a previous owner tried to do some work on it and left it with various wires disconnected. Does anyone have or could provide hi-res photos of the interior so I can identify where these wires belong? Some are obvious, others not so cle...

Hi Dave,
. . . and welcome to the Forum . . . Enjoy . . .
Thanks. I'm sure I will - I've hit a mid-life crisis and decided to visit my old loves - electronics, home computers and vintage test equipment.

Any idea how much the boards will cost to buy?

InterWord Carrier

Hi,

I was recently given a BBC Micro InterWord EPROM without the carrier. Is this of any use? Will I be able to get hold of a replacement carrier? Should I just erase it and use it as a scratch EPROM?

Thanks,
Malc
