Re: BBC Model B faults

Thanks everyone for the advice. At this months ABUG meeting, RobC and I were able to find and fix the issue, with very kind support from a selection of other Stardot members too. Many thanks! :) The problem was that IC45 had failed and after running some scope checks had to be replaced as it was alw...

Re: ABUG SOUTH 18 to 20 January 2019 (Hampshire) BOOKING THREAD

Hi, I am interested in attending (if it's not too late and I can arrange things with work). If I am only able to come for one day which one would be recommended? Also, I have an unhappy BBC B (https://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16195) and a Valiant Turtle without a communicator. Would...

Re: BBC Model B faults

Happy new year Stardotters! I am back to trying to repair my faulty BBC B. I tried with the S25 jumper in the lower position and in the upper and have the same issues. @tricky - When I copy I just get a blank space, it doesn't copy the corrupt part of the image. Many thanks again all for the assista...

Hi, Many thanks for the reply. It does happily boot up and functions as normal (beeps, caps lock light etc) apart from the display. When I remove S25 jumper the bootup screen looks like this: http://i66.tinypic.com/x28o4w.jpg When I replace the S25 jumper it looks like this: http://i67.tinypic.com/o...

BBC Model B faults

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any insight or advice they could offer in troubleshooting a BBC Model B Micro I am trying to fix. Re: Help with voltage overload protection on Analogue in

Dear all! Many thanks for all the help, I managed to find some free time to return to this project and was pleased to notice that my original circuits were fine but the issue was human error (AKA extreme stupidity) as I had wired the 15 pin plug the wrong way round  I'm pleased to say that it ...

Re: Help with voltage overload protection on Analogue in

I'm connecting between the analogue synth and the interface using mono jacks, I've encountered the stereo cable problem before, so I can rule that out. I really feel it's something to do with ground. I will try the battery test. thanks again for all the assistance, I am hoping to crack this one and ...

Re: Help with voltage overload protection on Analogue in

Hi! Here are a couple of pictures of the board and wiring, I am using 3.5 mono switched jacks with nothing connected to switch. Re: Help with voltage overload protection on Analogue in

Re: Help with voltage overload protection on Analogue in

@MartinB - Mine were fluctuating in the high 45k-65k range too. I checked them by shorting them to ground and they read near 0 and when shorting to Vref they read near 65k... So I shouldn't worry about this and go ahead and test my veroboard design? @dp11 - the source is the 5V peak to peak output o...

Re: Help with voltage overload protection on Analogue in

Many thanks DP11, very in depth info! I won't really need the DC so AC coupling sounds like a good idea, any pointers on how and where in the circuit to do this are very welcome :) Before attaching my veroboard design I thought I would test out my Analogue port. On page 13 of DIY Robotics and Sensor...

Re: Help with voltage overload protection on Analogue in

fantastic information, thanks! I'm learning a lot from this thread. The voltages that I will be sending will be in the range of 0 to 5V or -2.5 to 2.5V. They will then pass through a 5k voltage divider/attenuator to bring the voltage levels down (I've yet to sort out a solution for offsetting the po...

Re: Help with voltage overload protection on Analogue in

Hi! Many thanks, I will go with the 2 Bat42 diode route. Speed is an important factor too. The incoming voltage will often go above 1.8V but I have built some passive attenuators/voltage dividers on the inputs to scale down before going into the protection circuit. I'm still learning electronics and...
