Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

As far as I'm aware, the PLCC44 package is now discontinued by Xilinx, and is very hard to find. Dave i just bought five for a few pounds.. i don't know if i can post links, but i found many seller on a famous chinese site: xl9572.jpg but, i am afraid the board size should be enlarged to fit that s...

Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

My 6bit board stopped working.. since in this version there is a bit more space, is possible to design a plcc44 socket instead of the 10VQG44C? the price is similar, but it will be super easy to solder, and replacing if something wrong! I'm not good in using kicad, but i think it should not be a dif...

Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

I solved simply adjusting x and y offset in geometry setting for mode 7, and saving configuration.
But mine wasn't the native resolution, and I have that cropping only with older board and sw, if I remember fine.

Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

After rebooting you should be able to select scaling options as normal. thanks Ian, it worked, and i got a perfect pixeling with native monitor's resolution and integer/sharp scaling! I abandoned the zx81 tuning too, after hours of tests and trimmering i didn't get good result, so i'll continue usi...

Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

Thank you, i'll test this resolution as soon as possible, and it looks very sharp on your lcd!
But, before, i'd like to get the right geometry for my zx81 with the external circuitry and the RGB6bit board...

Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

Do you know the resolution of your monitor? Sorry Ian, my fault! it's not a 9" the monitor as i wrote, but a 10,1", and the max resolution is 1920x1980@60 (and i usually use 1920x1080@50 with RGBtoHD). I wasn't sure about the diagonal size and i had to get the specifications: HDMonitor.jpg It's not...

Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

Thank you for the hints, i'll make further adjustments!
But I took the (bad) photos on my 9-inch monitor only to compare the obvious difference between RGBtoHD (even not optimized) with ZX-HD (which does not allow parameters, anyway)

Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

I think I'll have to add a page to the wiki documenting how to connect up the various supported computers. Thanks in advance, i think it will be very useful! One more (and maybe stupid) question: the ZX81 YUV connection you explained above, does it need the logic board plugin and, in case, a specif...

Post the file once you have renamed it and I'll add it to the default profiles on any future release. Yes, i ordered pcb when Issue 3 wasn't published yet, but in list for an Issue 3 logic boa...

Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

I used a custom profile and changed only the Sync mode (from composite to separate V+H), the size and the offset of the screen.
I didn't know i could rename it and adding to predefinite profiles, good news!
And, already using the RC7.
Thank you, and Dave, for updating this amazing project!

probably not so useful, but for informing all, it works at first launch with the Commodore 128 80 columns port!

Yes, but with no change. I got "genlock failed" while auto calibrating, but it's the same with the other that's shows rights pixel To be honest, both images look poor, so something is not right... Genlock failed usually means that you have not set the Resolution setting to a 50Hz mode. Did you work...
