Re: Broken Beeb

The short keyboard ribbon cable connector crimps can break off over time with flexing due to keyboard removal. A quick test is to remove it and re-install the otherway round. Also well worth a quick inspection of the conductor to crimp joints. Also have you tried moving S25 to south ( or off ) to fo...

Re: A3000 Repair out of ideas Help

 From the pictures I'd say it needs more clean up... If it was mine I'd be snipping IC4, IC5 , IC6, IC10 cleaning the board before installing sockets and replacing all the ROM sockets.. Plus the Keyboard connector looks dodgy too. You need to get rid of every scrap of corrosion... Otherwise i...

Re: Why does the pi tube break TurboMMC?

Hi Lordoftime79

What DFS ROM(s) and FDC (8271/1770) are in your beeb ( there are a few combinations of daughter board configuration)?
Some decent photos of the motherboard ( with keyboard removed ) would help to figure out what the issue may be.

Have you considered doing a hi-res ( mode 0 or 3 ) port of Atari's 'Lunar Lander' ?

I've tried a quick play of Acorncourt..
The opening location is an enclosed tennis court...
In game commands, other than direction, cause 'fatal error :10 ' and locks up

It's unregulated so +/-10% as a rule of thumb
So, -4.6v is fine
Its only for audio and cassette signals

the -5v is reading -4.07v Replacing C18 & C21 -5DC rail smoothing caps has sorted this issue for me in the past. Of course, I've also had the cracked solder joint issue as described by Chris. The electrolytic caps in the PSU can also leak, and if left can start to distort the PCB and damage the tra...

It is an idea but without a market, the few that you may sell would cost in the thousands when you dont have a long manufacturing run to amortize the tooling costs - even if we had the tooling drawings - which I'm guessing we dont.

infocom, DOSFrotz /almost/ works, it successfully starts the game but dies on attempting to read user input, given there's source of that about I'm going to take a look later as it'd mean games that currently don't work like Beyond Zork should be playable if it can be fixed. That would be fantastic...

On the Master 512 286 processor, a number of things that seem like they should work just crash DOS Plus / the 286. In particular, PCCE is guaranteed to crash the machine the next time a command is issued despite being loaded as a TSR to avoid it stomping all over the HDD workspace. PCCE is known no...
