Re: Master sideway ram question

I've got one of the IFEL master cartridges that allows 4 banks of 2 switchable battery backed images.
Plus a 28 pin socket... They pop up on ebay fairly regularly

Re: WE Modem ROM image

I set my minipro to 27128 to make sure it got the full capture.

Flicking through the ROM dump it does repeat from 2000H so it probably isnt.
There's a big red WE sticker covering the whole top surface which I'm a little reluctant to disturb

Re: Model B - Issue 7 - Beep of doom

Hi John

Is it possible to post a photo of the board?

Are these in sockets? IC4 IC5 IC7 IC73

If not it may be worth removing them ( starting with IC 7 and IC73 ) and putting sockets in so you can swap for known good stock.

Re: Model B - Issue 7 - Beep of doom

Check the power connector solder joints.
I've had some that seem solid but on closer inspection it was possible to rotate the connector within the solder joint.
CPU socket could be suspect also.

how did you get on with getting the springs back in I intend to leave the frame and springs in situ and just hoike the insert out vertically... In fact I've managed to get one of the damaged posts out in this manner and the springs look happy and ready for a 'new' insert. It was a little tough... s...

This would be how I would tackle it... cut the socket away Assuming good access at the back of the socket. -- Steady hand required -- Dremel cutting disc just below the lower row of pins :D That way the remnant of the plastic shell could then be gently prized off the pins ready to be de-soldered Mar...
