Re: Horizon on MacOS 10.15 "Catalina"
Thanks for the heads up re granting Horizon disk access. Obviously you have an odd feeling about my use of quotation marks in "heightened"; I'm not entirely sure why. Normally when I use quotation marks (in English) I use them to cast doubt on the word(s) they are wrapped round. In this ca...

Horizon on MacOS 10.15 "Catalina"
I suspect that Horizon cannot save because of Apple's "heightened" security.

Re: Is Horizon a dirty word hereabouts?
I see that Richard Bannister has updated Horizon to version 1.4.1 I have emailed him asking him about what the differences between 1.4 and 1.4.1 might be. Mod Edit: removed inflammatory language "Horizon cannot run without a copy of the original BBC Model B ROM. This is copyrighted software and...

Apple telling me to buy a new Well: what can I say except: 1. They don't make their products because they love you. 2. If the blatant commercial push of Microsoft and Apple get too much it is probably time to consider Linux. 3. In the light of #2 I should like to point out that this, hypocritically...

Obviously a huge security risk.after being held up in UK customs

Those are going to be well expensive balls.
And I do not think a 22 mm mouseball will fit inside a mouse that was meant to take a 20 mm one.

How odd, I've always typed with my feet, as I thought everyone else did.
Mind you, I don't get out of my "computer cave" that often.

LiveCode; a programming language I use all the time, is made in Scotland, but the people who make it have taken a conscious decision to use American spelling. . . so 'Color' and so on . . . I don't know whether this should be viewed as pandering, or a decision based on some theory that Americans get...

Re: Alan Turing Worth Fifty Quid...
I am sure Alan Turing was not the only one to suffer in those dark times because of his sexual orientation. Of course he wasn't. But it is funny how Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears (who made no secret whatsoever about their love for each other) were let off the hook while Alan Turing wasn't. Obvio...

I really cannot understand what one does in one's bedroom has got to do with anyone except the people/things [sh*gging a BBC Model B, anyone?] taking part in whatever inwith the bedroom. Alan Turing should not have been pardoned: the act of pardoning presumes something criminal happened in the first...

May I suggest Of course you may . . . but . . . . . . as I have a Model B and a Master Compact in my school, I use emulators on my Linux machines so that, once every child has "had a go" on a REAL BBC they can continue their work on the next best thing. As this phase lasts no more than 90...

I have a box with 6 Macintosh ABD mice lurking in a place my wife would love
to clear out: but I don't know what the measurement of the balls are . . .
It would be dead easy to remove a mouse ball and pop it in the post.

Re: Is Horizon a dirty word hereabouts?
Nothing is going wrong with the current version of MacBeebEm thanks to the help of Jon Welch. The advantage, from my point of view at least, of Horizon, is the mapping of the keyboard layout so that it is congruent with a standard Macintosh keyboard. To be honest, as I use a BBC emulator to teach BB...

Is Horizon a dirty word hereabouts?
I don't know why, but I do have a feeling . . .
Anyway: just tried MacBeebEm 4.0a on a MacMini 2018
running MacOS 10.14.5 beta 5 with no joy whatsoever.
However, Horizon 1.4 works a charm.
