Re: Atomwide A5000 8MB

Thanks for the kind offer Dave!
I’ll take you up on that, if I may?
There’s no hurry from my point of view, so I’ll just post the chips to you next month, if that’s ok with you.

Nice to see another Econet coming together! =D> You might like to try JGH’s Talk conferencing app on your Econet whilst you work on getting an L3FS instance set up - see http://mdfs.net/Apps/Networking/Talker/ - I think Talk is much more fun than *Notify! Re: Atomwide A5000 8MB

I see from the “Design Security“ section on p4 of the datasheet that these PEEL devices have a security bit that may be set at the time of programming to prevent subsequent “unauthorized reading or copying of designs programmed into the device”. Furthermore, it appears that relatively few programmer...

Well, it’s taken me a little while to dig out and open up my A5000 with the Atomwide 8Mb RAM expansion card, but here are a couple of photos - it’s a fully populated version of DutchAcorn’s board. As the photos show, U4 and U5 aren’t GALs but PEEL PLDs - datasheet here: https://datasheet.octopart.co...

It would be great to have an Econet interface for the Pi, or the BBB - there has been an Econet USB project on this forum in the past, but as yet it appears not to have come to fruition: there’s this one from flynnjs - https://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6065&hilit=econet+raspberry+pi ...

There’s a RAM test program in the A3000 Acorn dealer test disc here - http://www.lewisgilbert.co.uk/archiology/dealerdiscs.html - I’ve not had a chance to look at this in any detail, so may not be useful for testing RAM expansion. If the ROMs or dealer test disc aren’t suitable for test purposes, th...

Re: Add a second floppy to Archs without support (i.e. extra Gotek)

Hello Andy, Are these cables still available? Is it a case of just replacing the floppy cable in my A3020 with this one to add an external FF Gotek? I still have some second floppy pcbs, so I could make you up a cable. The cable is easy to use; it’s just a matter of swapping the existing cable for t...

Re: Gotek / Disk Problem ?

Looks like a pre-modded Gotek from RetroClinic, so I think we can safely assume the Gotek itself is good. The problem may well just be dirty contacts on the floppy drive IDC connector on the Beeb - try plugging/unplugging the floppy cable from the Beeb several times, and see if that fixes things. Th...

Re: AcornA7000 Motherboard alive and well need some basic help now... (if I may)

I find NetSurf perfectly usable for retro computing purposes on a RiscPC; it’s quite handy for quickly downloading software directly onto the machine from old RISC OS websites, which have a tendency to be javascript free. A functioning web browser is also handy for browsing documentation and dealing...

Re: AcornA7000 Motherboard alive and well need some basic help now... (if I may)

I'm afraid I don't know the cause of the error you're getting with Webster - I gave up with Webster when I briefly tried it in the past. I think that you should try using NetSurf - all but the very earliest versions require at least RISC OS 4.02, but I believe that you may be able to run one or more...

Here you are - two zipped ADFs - one with !FTPc (and the 32bit CLib module, which is needed for FTPc - you may already have a suitable CLib module in your !Boot system), and the second with !Sunfish. Enjoy!

Many thanks for these detailed and very helpful instructions! Following your instructions, I've got RPCEmu 0.9.0 built and running on my MacBook Air running Mac OS X 10.13.6. Re: AcornA7000 Motherboard alive and well need some basic help now... (if I may)

No problem! Just create the missing directories, and you’ll be good. i.e. navigate to the Boot.RO310Hook directory and create the missing directory “Res” in that location. Do the same for Boot.RO360Hook. These errors are not sinister, but mere leftovers from trimming down the !Boot app at some point...

Below is a Zipped ADF 1.6Mb floppy disc image containing versions 2.19 and 2.56 of !HForm. If you're using RISC OS 3.6 on your A7000, then I'd try using !HForm version 2.19 to format your CF card.
