Re: Simultaneous internet & mass storage solutions for the A3010

Richard - it would be great to see some progress on this; I'd be more than happy for a team effort, but I doubt that I'll be able to contribute much, if anything, in the foreseeable future. If you'd like to have a got at this, then you could ask RobC if he'd be happy to share his CP2201 driver code ...

Re: Simultaneous internet & mass storage solutions for the A3010

Hi Richard - Unfortunately, the demands of my daily life have been such that I’ve not had the time to make any progress with this project. I have got the plipbox hardware, and RobC very kindly shared his CP2201 driver code with me, so at least I’ve got everything that I need to make a start, other t...

Re: Bought Crystal Maze from ebay but Disc 1 faulty

I recently managed to get an eBay purchased floppy disc working after cleaning the disc surface - see here: https://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=15218 Of course, if your disc has been overwritten, then cleaning won’t be much help, but it might be worth a try....I must admit that I was ...

Re: Copying files from PC to IDE DOM - advice needed.

How do you transfer something which is bigger than a disc size with this method? Is there a tool for splitting/recombining files or a multi-part archive format? Here’s a utility to do that - http://www.steve-potts.me.uk/software.html#split - this method does work, though it’s a bit of hassle. For t...

Re: myelin’s Econet Hub

I finally found some time to build up my remaining Econet Hub PCB, and fit it into an enclosure, along the same lines taken for the Econet socket box described on the retro-kit site here . I decided to use a 2.1mm panel mount jack plug socket to power the Hub via a jack plug to usb cable. This Hub i...

I see from the “Design Security“ section on p4 of the datasheet that these PEEL devices have a security bit that may be set at the time of programming to prevent subsequent “unauthorized reading or copying of designs programmed into the device”. Furthermore, it appears that relatively few programmer...

Hello Andy, Are these cables still available? Is it a case of just replacing the floppy cable in my A3020 with this one to add an external FF Gotek? I still have some second floppy pcbs, so I could make you up a cable. The cable is easy to use; it’s just a matter of swapping the existing cable for t...

Re: Gotek / Disk Problem ?

Looks like a pre-modded Gotek from RetroClinic, so I think we can safely assume the Gotek itself is good. The problem may well just be dirty contacts on the floppy drive IDC connector on the Beeb - try plugging/unplugging the floppy cable from the Beeb several times, and see if that fixes things. Th...

Re: AcornA7000 Motherboard alive and well need some basic help now... (if I may)

I find NetSurf perfectly usable for retro computing purposes on a RiscPC; it’s quite handy for quickly downloading software directly onto the machine from old RISC OS websites, which have a tendency to be javascript free. A functioning web browser is also handy for browsing documentation and dealing...

Re: AcornA7000 Motherboard alive and well need some basic help now... (if I may)

I'm afraid I don't know the cause of the error you're getting with Webster - I gave up with Webster when I briefly tried it in the past. I think that you should try using NetSurf - all but the very earliest versions require at least RISC OS 4.02, but I believe that you may be able to run one or more...

Here you are - two zipped ADFs - one with !FTPc (and the 32bit CLib module, which is needed for FTPc - you may already have a suitable CLib module in your !Boot system), and the second with !Sunfish. Enjoy!
