Re: BBC BASIC SDL, GPIO
finally got around to getting the temp sensor connected, it either gave right results and lots of check errors, or some temp like 20 degs below. it was this one i have just bought a dht11 see if that is any better when it comes. i am guessing my soldering isnt so good. i did put the resistor over pi...

again i know this maybe a stupid question, and the elver of people here is awesome, but the bbc basic SDL running on a pi 3, how fast is this compared to my bbc master 512? Im sure ive bored everyone about my window opening project with the GPIO, but ive now got it looking with INKEY for what window...

Re: BBC BASIC SDL, GPIO
quick question my program atm asks what action i want my relays to do , so like open window 1 open window 2, and i thought a room temp sensor would be good so i can either use it to control the windows, or just give the temp in the room. the program looks like it asks the sensor every 2 seconds what...

I have my window opening program working, i can open and close my bedroom windows via the pi, and some corsa wiper motors ive connected to the windows. Re: GPIO PROBLEMS
Think i have the answer, when its not set it does nothing, when it is set its either an earth or a 3,3v signal. the pi must remember what the last state it was when it was turned off.

Not sure if this is the right section but, i have a raspberry pi running bbc basic. I asked a lot of questions a while ago to get my project working. It is using the gpios on the pi to operate a relay board that operates 2 corsa wiper motors that i have attached to 2 windows. This is all powered by ...

Has anyone got an example of a program handling 8 bit numbers that i can have a look at. Im a bit of a novice at basic and im using a Pi with Richard Russels BBC basic to control a 8 bit register chip with the gpios. Im not 100% sure what to do or what i can do with bbc basic in this way.
thanks.
thanks.

that is really interesting! i did originally want to do my program with the bbc, but then thought id try to get it sorted with the pi, and bbc basic. That way also, i dont stand a chance of blowing up the bbc! I do love learning about this old technology, [uel=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9z9eDM...

thankyou again for the reply. the globals where for when i goto the 8 bit shift register, i though it would be easier. i am sure that is the problem now as i have instead of using the globals and procpins, ive just put each pin action down and it works. so i am happy with the operations as they are,...

well i havnt found out exactly why, but if i do a proc with in a proc, sometimes i wont work the pins properly. Maybe it forgets a value or something, but i have changed the way i have worked it. maybe it forgets where it goes back to at the end proc i cant work it out. i can now open and close my w...

im having a strange problem with the gpio and the bbc basic. the program controls 2 windows and 2 fans via gpio, and also an 8 relay module. So first thing i noticed in my program is that i have set a variable G to be my power on, and im using another 6 A-F for window/fan operations. Now, i set A-G ...

Re: pi gpio bbc basic
yes, thankyou for helping again, ive just realised the stepper motor takes a value some how to make the motor turn, and a servo motor which i thought i had uses pwm. So if i can just figure out how to control this motor now, and also make use of some form of limit switch, itll be really good. I was ...

Re: pi gpio bbc basic
I know you are asking principally about RISC OS, but for completeness the Raspberry Pi edition of BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0 (which runs under Raspbian, on a RPi 3 or 4) supports controlling the GPIO via the supplied library ' gpiolib.bbc '. Here is a demonstration of it in action, with the program list...

Re: info: is there a 8 bit pwm generator chip?
i have the pi, Richard Russels amazing basic, and some blinds i cba operating. I am not sure what to do, i have one wired to a small geared motor, but it needs limit switches and a H bridge, all can be done but with a stepper motor it can go both ways easier [i think!] Not sure what to do tbh...

info: is there a 8 bit pwm generator chip?
i want to control a servo motor to operate some veneration blinds, ive seen a motor, and i think it needs 0-50 hertz for 0 to full angle of its operation. I want to program the motor using BBC basic, and also my raspberry pi. Im looking for a way to do; say an 8 bit shift register chip like the SN74...

Re: pi gpio bbc basic
interesting, i dont really understand what is said above, but i have found out about 8 bit Shift Registers SN74HC595N, this will need 3 wires to it, and i think will be easy to control with the pi. As far as i see it now, i link 3 wire s from the pi to a sn chip, then 8 outputs to 8 transistors to g...

Re: pi gpio bbc basic
right ok i can see that being a massive project, thanks for the reply again! i have just had a little snooze and when i woke up i was thinking, most of the signals i need for my window are to work a 16 relay module board. So, maybe i could do some form of logic set up with like 4 pins, giving me an ...
