Re: My Top 85 Games for the BBC Micro

Thank you for making such a nice video on Santa's Sleigh. The game was originally written on an Acorn Electron and submitted to Electron User magazine, with a small rocket man instead of 'Santa'. EU asked me to add a Christmas theme to the game for the December 1986 issue of the magazine, so the roc...

Re: Mode 7 flip between pages

I want to animate them. So my question is what format do I save them in from Edit tf to display on a beeb and also is there some code to load a series of mode 7 pages then flip between them quickly? I think that the two programs below do something similar to what you are looking to achieve. They cr...

Re: BBC b, reading the CRT vertical sync position.

Hi, i am wondering how the CRT vertical sync position can be read ?. In my poor games moving characters will disappear in certain horizontal bands even when using *FX19. The few other documented bbc games seam to be reading the CRT draw position but i was not able to easily grasp how with all the o...

Re: How to...on a Commodore 64

To be fair to the Commodore engineers and their "15 shades of brown" palette, they made the colours so similar to reduce the appearance of the dot crawl effect on 1970s and early 80s vintage NTSC TV sets.

At the end of each level the score incr...

Re: Videos comparing BBC Vs electron versions of games

The Electron version of Zalaga seemed to run a bit faster and more smoothly than the BBC version. The Elk version runs in Mode 5 as opposed to Mode 2 on the BBC. Maybe the author was able to use the chance to rev the code and the extra memory to improve the feel of the game.

50 years of AMD

My old employer, AMD, celebrates it's 50th Anniversary this month. Here is, for us, a famous poster of Jerry Sanders III dressed as Indiana Jones, with a rightly terrified Andy Grove of Intel on the right. Sanders didn't suffer from a lack of self-confidence. https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1600...
