Voltmace! That was it what I didn't remember. Thanks a lot, I will sleep well tonight.

Joystick interfaces

Hi, I am trying to remember details about the various ways to connect joysticks to RISC OS machines (pre USB). I am interested in details like digital/analogue, how many ports, which variants, was there software to emulate the keyboard, was there software to provide the A3010 Acorn Joystick SWIs, ho...

New version of Archimedes MIST core

Hi, Slingshot (Atari-Forum) aka gyurco (GitHub) has released a new version of the MIST Archimedes Core, originally by Stephen Leary. Re: !FTPc triggering system hang? (+ serial TCP/IP on A3000)

Always use an Acorn-style serial cable and "Internal" blockdriver, never "InternalPC". That's interesting. Does the 'InternalPC' one add some additional overhead, then? Could that be what I'm seeing? No, "Internal" and "InternalPC" are basically the same, only there to cater for the differing cabli...

I'm not sure why I'm seeing such terrible performance from the SLIP driver. Perhaps I've a shonky version. I'd quite like to get that working to prove it's not just PPPD papering over the cracks. I forgot to mention that during my "serial IP world" phase, I always used Freenet1 as a TCP/IP stack. I...

That page also says " The A3000 is ideally suited to this modification as it has an unused battery holder built into the case " but my case doesn't seem to have a battery holder. Re: WANTED: Patch for Risc PC support of Acorn's software PC Emulator (!PCEm)

But I've yet to figure out the mouse driver ... this makes using Windows a bit of an arse. ISTR that no mouse driver was needed for Windows 3.0, since it was "hardcoded" to support a Microsoft bus mouse, which was emulated by PCEm. Re: A confused A7000

The A7000+ was released after ART was closed iirc, so the relevant RISC OS (3.71?) doesn't have an ART banner. This machine looks to have been upgraded to 3.7, though I had thought that version could detect the ARM7500. The original A7000 was shipped with RISC OS 3.6 IIRC, so I would guess that 3.7...

The A3000 serial port is a bit weird. There's an Acorn application note on it. Special wiring is needed for the "old" serial port based on the 6551. I'm ...

Not sure how adaptable ZIDEFS is; ideA (or at least the podule I own) has a somewhat different memory map to the modern IDE podules. As does the RISC Developments podule.
Were there multiple different ICS IDE podules? Because ZIDEFS is especially for the ICS IDE podules.

If a suitable podule with the correct address map supporting 4 drives is written, yes. That's not really a function of the API though.
Since you have already implemented the ideA IDE podule, I guess ZIDEFS should "just work"?

Is CDFSSoftATAPI involved when using the Unipod? If not, I'll look to try force loading a later version. Every IDE podule comes with its own CDFSSoft_whatever variant. The CDFSSoftATAPI I refer to is the one in RISC OS ROM (or maybe softloaded) for the internal IDE. You can download the RISC OS 3.7...
