Re: MAME: Tube devices

Nice job! How did you do that? The Casper firmware I use on BeebEm doesn't load any OS. It is hardcoded to return an error message. I thought you had the Casper running, but not the Cumana? Correct! I have the Casper running, but after I boot into the Casper co-pro, you basically get the following ...

Re: Robico Banjax Cheat?

Thaaaaaank you. But for the sake of learning... what was I doing wrong? Is it easy to explain? ;/ Ahh of course.. The Banjax loader is part BASIC and part Machine Code. When you replace line 80, the BASIC language somehow changes the TOP variable, which will change the start address of the machine ...

Re: MAME: Tube devices

Now have the Casper 68000 running Control 'C' 0129.png I know the 68000 is running at 8MHz, but does anyone know which crystal is used on the board? The only photo I've seen is unclear, am expecting either 8 or 16MHz. Nice job! How did you do that? The Casper firmware I use on BeebEm doesn't load a...

Re: Latest version of BeebEm

I'd like to get v4.15 out there soon, but there's an open pull request at the moment for a VDFS feature that still needs a bit of work to complete. We could hold that feature for a future version, bit I'd like to ask jghartson's view on it first. There's no rush, I think it's great that people are ...

Re: Latest version of BeebEm

Yes, at the moment it only compiles on Windows. Splitting out platform-specific code will take a lot of effort, and I've only made a start since AFAIK there are no other attempts at cross-platforming BeebEm.

Re: BeebEm and the Cumana 68008 co-processor

AFAIK there are basically just 4 8-bit registers on the PEDL Multiform Z80 co-pro: 2 registers which are host-writable and parasite-readable, and 2 registers which are parasite-writable and host-readable. A write to &FC00 or &FC01 on the host (6502) can be read from $00 or $01 on the co-processor (Z...

Re: Latest version of BeebEm

I've finally gotten around to putting my development tree on GitHub. Latest development tree can be found here: https://github.com/eelcohn/beebem/tree/v4.21-rc1 By using C++ objects I've tried to build re-usable code, see the /src/components/ and /src/peripherals/ folders. This way it should be a lo...

Re: Latest version of BeebEm

Well, that could be done. But I've been working on some other stuff as well, e.g. untangling all platform-dependant code from BeebEm, and putting it in a seperate folder. This way, in theory, it would be a whole lot simpler to port BeebEm v4.14+ to other platforms like Linux and Mac. IMO it would be...

Replacing Master RTC battery pack by a supercap

Hi,

Anyone got experience with replacing the RTC battery pack in a Master with a supercap*?

Cheers
Eelco

(*) a supercap is a capacitor with a relative large capacity, e.g. 0.47 or 1F.

Re: Latest version of BeebEm

Cool. Good to see that I'm not the only one developing on the BeebEm project. I thought it was kindof abandoned. I've been working steadily on what I call v4.20 of BeebEm, which includes the 68k co-processors described here . Since I've now resolved a lot of bugs (and since I didn't release this cod...

A map and the solution can be found here: https://acorn.huininga.nl/pub/docs/game ... re/Banjax/

Without monsters the game is indeed a bit boring, but you'll be able to finish it in 15 mins, if you know your way around

Re: Robico Banjax Cheat?

I remember there was a really easy way to cheat. The monsters appear randomly in the screens every time you run Banjax, so I figured that there must be some random number generator involved. When looking at the loader (called BANJAX, part BASIC part machinecode) you can see that random values are pu...

Thank you :) I've been working very irregularly on this project, but I've picked it up again last week. I'll put the code on GitHub soon so anyone can review and make additions. Not really my idea to make yet another fork of BeebEm, but for now it seems like the best option. Sometime in the future i...

BeebEm and 68k co-pro support

So, for the past weeks I've been steadily working on a 68k module for the BeebEm emulator, and I've now made some substantial progress :) I've managed to implement the Casper co-pro, the Cumana co-pro and my own creation, the CiscOS copro :D It's all still a bit buggy, but it's working for now... Hi Rob, I've disassembled both the Casper 68k and the Casper BBC roms, and I might have found out why it doesn't work on an Master. At some point the code makes a direct call to the OS, and the address of this call is obviously different in other versions of the OS: 82E5 29 0F ). AND #&0F 82E7 A8 . ...

Hi,

Does anyone here have an image of the boot ROM's for the Casper or Torch 68k co-pro's? I'm currently working on an 68k emulator and I thought I'd give it a try with these co-pro's.

(various bugfixes) Thanks, I'll implement them in v2.02, and test it on the hardware version of the co-pro. After fixing this, the escape handling works correctly. I did the OR-thing so I'd also be able to use bits 0-5 and 7 for other purposes. I'll implement your change and figure out later why th...
