Re: Mystery of the missing Exile mail-in cards

I’ve just checked my versions of Exile. My disc version which I bought in ‘88 does not have the Important Message on page 8 and I’m certain it never came with the two blue cards. My Beeb / Electron cassette version does have the Important Message on page 8 and does have the two blue cards! My second...

Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

Are they all gone Dave or is it possible to bag the last one for testing?! :)

PM sent. My tv is 1920x1080p, my monitor is 1600x1200 (i’d use a hdmi-dvi adapter on that).

Re: Prince of Persia

I just had a look at the CPC6128 version side by side with the Master. Initially the CPC looks impressive due to the colours and the way the character’s been drawn. But then you can see that the graphics are actually quite simplified and don’t match the original. The Beeb’s colours aren’t quite a ma...

Re: BBC, electron, atom, arch(?) on retropie?

I have both beebem and b-em working on my Pi, one of which (can’t remember which but I think it’s beebem) runs through emulationstation and the other through the desktop. Both work fine however the one that goes through emulationstation hangs if you try to open a disk requestor, so you can’t save yo...

Re: Acorn Archimedes A310 with VIDC monitor recommendations

If I remember correctly on my A420/1 I had to set LK1 to north, LK2 to closed and *configure monitortype 3. My LCD monitor (a dell 2001fp) will then display the desktop in mode 27 640x480x16

This page talks about the A300 series:

Re: Which games from other platforms did you wish was on the BBC?

The talk of REVS on the "Most disappointing conversions..." thread made me yearn for Stunt Car Racer . It had an original release on C64 and was recently ported to 8-bit Atari . Given that Geoff Crammond started on the BBC Micro, perhaps it's time for a conversion?! EDIT: The 6502 source code for t...

Have you checked to see if there's a ram expansion in the machine? If there is and it's bust then it might be causing your error.

Re: My final unanswered Exile question

On the subject of Exile - what would have to be done to make the game scroll smoothly? The jerky-scrolling has never annoyed me, but I was thinking that with new add-ons like the VideoNula, would it be possible to recode the game to smooth things out?

Re: My final unanswered Exile question

One last thought, and it's a long shot: do you have access to the Amiga version of the game (WinUAE plus an ADF image is probably the easiest way :) )? I know that the map isn't identical but from memory it's relatively close - you could see if this switch is present here and if so maybe see what it...

Good work on completing Exile by the way! =D> My brother, Dad and I played it loads when it was first released but we never got much beyond the mysterious door to the west. There was much fun to be had though messing about with the robots and imps and fluffy! I spent some time with the fantastic Ami...
