Re: BBC Basic Windows question

Sorry Richard.....at the time I was on an Imac but since have moved to windows for a bit......the Imac is very convenient with speakers and webcam built in......not that this is a problem on windows of course. It's interesting you can access the webcam from BBC Basic in Windows.....hmmmm.

Re: BBC Basic Windows question

Thanks Richard. I was using an Imac before so that's why I was asking. I had an idea of writing a program that would detect where fingers were on a piece of paper in front of the computer so you could use the paper like a touchscreen. Pretty ambitious I know....it would have been simple though.....i...

Re: Ubuntu 18 gcc compile issue....b em

Thanks so much Coeus. I have found that!
Great...I will play around now with the latency.

You spent a long time trying to help me 6 months ago with this and so I thought I will revisit it and try to do some music :)

Also thanks to Elminster for your reply regarding Sudo.

Re: Ubuntu 18 gcc compile issue....b em

Can you clarify that Elminster............
When you are compiling you never use Sudo? .I have always seen people typing sudo ./configure....
Dave says you only use that at the end when making a file....

Anyway I better get to bed but thanks to everyone tonight. Real progress! =D>

Re: Ubuntu 18 gcc compile issue....b em

I have found where you set all the settings....in the root of b-em - called b-em.cfg.
Let's try to change the audio settings and see if I can drop the latency down in alsa a bit :)

Thanks for that tip Dave. I learn a bit more every day about Linux. It blimmin well does run! I can't believe my luck. I've got even further. The whole point was to go back and try to see if Music 5000 emulation was any better in Linux than windows ( the latency was a little too high in windows for ...

Re: Ubuntu 18 gcc compile issue....b em

Re: Ubuntu 18 gcc compile issue....b em

I probably haven't done this the correct way Dave................( in terms of checking it out from github ) - I downloaded a source file directly ( the music 2000 pre 1) - perhaps that is what is wrong ......I'll have to have a read up.

I'm still getting that error Dave ( that sounds like a scene from 2001) I've installed build-essential (on a brand new fresh install of Ubuntu) - checked gcc was installed..... it just keeps saying... sudo: ./configure: command not found Well time for bed and maybe we can re-visit it tomorrow .........
