Re: FunkyDemo

I had !FunkyDemo (I think) from a magazine cover disk back in the day - my brother and I used to watch this over and over! Does anyone happen to know what disk this came on? I'd love to fire it up again properly. I have looked through a disks but can't seem to find it. I do seem to have a fair few ...

Re: Acorn Computer Music & Visual Artists

Resurrecting an old thread here but at ABUG my table has a BBC B, Music 500 and Symphony Music 4000 keyboard working together on one side and an Acorn A3020 with AK12 user port podule on the other side, and it occurred to me that if I could plug the 4000 keyboard in to the user port on the A3020, w...

That's amazing qUE, thanks for the software and advice! Now to play :) No problem, I'd been using the software since I got in on Archimedes World right up til about 2000. Made some pretty iconic Techno on it, just unfortunately I've not been able to record it at a good quality since it doesn't run ...

Sorry to be slow on this, had to dig my backups. Original copy of !WIMPTracker, unfortunately I can't provide the two page manual since that was printed in the 1992 issue of Archimedes World which I don't have to hand. A few quirks with !WIMPTracker I should mention; Only runs on RISC OS 2/3 Archime...

This isn't directly Acorn related, but definitely ARM related. And I'm putting this here incase anyone makes music with Tracker or any step sequencer and/or will like to own a full AMCS system (please spread the word as we're not some huge corporation with pots of cash and a dedicated marketing dept...

Re: OS Version

I suspect what is happening here is OS_ReadVDUVariables gets the video base address so your line routine can write directly to the video as a memory block, but the line routine is abusing unalignment with word writes which is perfectly legal on earlier ARM CPUs but will throw an exception on newer s...

Re: Tales of Anubus

There's a similar looking game on the Panasonic 3DO called Seal of the Pharaoh, not sure if there's some relation. 3DO is also ARM and a lot of the major title unreleased games you mention made it onto that system, maybe developers went over to that??

Re: Early 8-Channel Music Uploaded (!Tracker Module)

VIDC supported 8 channel so I assume that's why it was probably the first home computer to do so. VIDC can actually do more channels since the samplerate is dependent on a division of the IO clock, it's only limited on the stereo panning to 8 channels. Only trouble is every time you add a slice to ...

Re: Question about MEMC translation tables reprogramming

IIRC, if you look at the NewReset in RISC OS source, it has the "BangCAM" routines in there. I gather everything is mapped in logical from the end of "memory" backward to keep it out of the way, I think the stack is probably mapped first since R13 is initialised 0, so as it wraps from STM/LDMFD it's...

I use a GBS-82xx board to get full screen VGA output, they're pretty cheap, only thing you'll need to do is wire a 9-pin d-type to the RGBHV input lead.

Re: MIDI Sequencing software for A3020

Okay, just an update, I've tried various versions (with FDC, not with FDC, etc.) of AMCS on the 3020 and I can unfortunately confirm it doesn't work with the A3000 initialisation. I guess something is different with the hardware. I'll be looking into it now I've got the machine setup.

Re: Is there a maximum program size under BASIC 5 ?

Yeah, like I said it's not done through the CLI. To do a wrap you manipulate the line numbers to go from 0-65280 and then repeat, then you chain the code through the interpreter. I found the interpreter (outside of CLI) will accept 65281 (&FF01), but I stuck with 65280 (&FF00) in the end since it fi...
