Re: Calculating digits of Pi in Basic

I've been watching this with much interest, and running the various codes on BeebEm (BBC Master). I'm getting faster run times that quoted. Anyway, I noticed that the first digit always seems to '0', and the decimal point is missing. So, I've changed the end slightly: 250 FOR C%=1 TO N%:IF C%=2 VDU4...

Re: Master to VGA or DVI monitor

I've just bought myself a GBS8200, for about 17 quid off Amazon, because I heard great things about it here. This unit takes the RGB signal from a BBC/Electron and converts it to a VGA. Plus there are a few threads detailing mods to improve the signal.

Yep, runs on RISC OS...well, if she had the chance to get to my computers - although she'd probably sleep on them! :D

Re: I neede help [on many levels!]

Have you looked at control processors? This sort of thing can be done with, for example, an AMX NI-3100. This also has 8 relays which can be used to control your actuators. Programming it uses a language called Netlinx, which is fairly similar to Basic (in fact, I think most modern languages are). T...

Re: A question on Power Supplies

I don't have an oscilloscope, but I do have a meter. I've also got plenty of these PSUs, so they are disposable. I also don't have any car lamps...my car's lights are LEDs. I can easily find another load which will do the same job though. Next time I'm down at my parents, I can take some of these su...

Re: A question on Power Supplies

I'm not sure if they are regulated or not. They're not that big. Smaller than my laptop's PSU.
I tried one out, last week, on my AMX TPI and it failed to power it - so that got binned. I can't remember the voltage it put out, but was less than 12v.

A question on Power Supplies

I've got a batch of second hand, fairly well used, power supplies. The specs are all the same: 12v DC 3.2A. I've measured the output voltage (no load) on them all and some are measuring 11.9v, while others are 12.2v. Would I be right in thinking that the ones below 12v are on their way to failure, w...

Free: Touchscreens

I have these two touchscreens which I'm wanting to de-clutter. They both work, but are 15" and the resolution is only, I think 800x640 max. 20191004_100619157_iOS.jpg There are two variants (so, one of each). One has a RS232 connection and a 240v power input: 20191004_100542764_iOS.jpg of which I am...

An AMX TPI-PRO-4...OK, not the TPI-PRO-DVI-4 I was expecting, but as I'll only be using the analogue inputs anyway, no problem. This model still allows the input of S-Video, Composite, Component and, of course, VGA. The ELO touchscreen I had already. 20191003_171056326_iOS.jpg Saturday I should be g...

Re: Touchscreens

Having looked into it, and the various posts on here, it looks like the BBC RGB output needs a convertor, so I've ordered myself a GBS8200. I'll see what the output is like through the TPI-DVI before I make the suggested mods to the GBS.

The other touchscreens are GVision J5PX 15" screens. It appears I have one with USB connector and two with RS232. Touchscreens

I found on Ebay one of these: Screen Shot 2019-09-29 at 10.42.35.PNG It's an AMX TPI-PRO DVI 4 (the 4 DVI input version) to go with the ELO 17" Touchscreen I've got kicking about, and my AMX NI-4100 Master controller. All very nice, but what can I use it for. Then, I thought playing around with the ...

I know how to do it, but haven't done so for many years. It ain't easy and requires good eyesight (something I no longer have) and a steady hand.
This discussion has come up before, and the conclusion was that it isn't worth the effort (taking into account actually getting your hands on an ARM3).

Re: b-em - bug or misunderstanding

Playing with b-em (Current master) I find the following. *ADFS doesn't work. - It looks for a file. *FADFS works OK. That is also the behaviour of a real machine. *ADFS (or A-Break) will attempt to mount a directory, but *FADFS (or F-Break) will not. On a Master, IIRC, it is configurable whether AD...
