Doh!
Quite right Rob, I'd just found out that indeed it is an AKF11 before I read your posting. I'd ruled AKF11 out not sure now why.

Re: Electron Plus 3, some questions.

Doubt there's anything wrong with the +3, just not enough power. We've tried a new 20V 3.25A DC PSU on it. It will power the electron o.k. Powering the plus 3 without the electron the disc drive powered up and spins, light comes on etc. Connecting the electron and trying again and the light on the ...

Re: Electron Plus 3, some questions.

Thanks for all the very quick info lads. I must apologise to Chris Whitehead on re-reading it he doesn't say on chrisacorns.computinghistory.org.uk two PSUs are used. He says: "The left view of the Plus 3 shows the socket for the 21 V AC power supply. When a Plus 3 is fitted the Electron runs of the...

Re: Electron Plus 3, some questions.

I'm trying to help someone power their Electron with Plus 1 and Plus 3, I'm confused by: It is, I think, still providing power to the elk/peripherals AFAIK. The plus 3 psu is only powering the drive. That's if I remember correctly... Which I might not. You're correct, Daniel. With the Acorn Plus 3 a...

Re: Saving a complete minipodule ROM & EtherLan100 ROM image

Thanks for all the info and suggestions. I found we did have a ShareFS EtherLan100 interface buried in boxes from our latest 'Acorn Collection' purchase and have been able to reflash the cards successfully. Surprisingly the MAC address was stored in plain text (in two places), I'd have expected a ch...

Writing ssd disk images on a BBC Master

Is there any software that will run on a BBC Master to write 100K SSD etc. disk images?

I've tried searching the Forum and used Google but not found anything.

I can easy download disk images on to a 3.5" ADFS disk and have a 3.5"/5.25" dual drive on a Master!

In an ideal world you are correct and I was in contact some years ago with the last man standing at Design IT, acquiring all their remaining RISC OS hardware but since then I and others have had our emails unanswered. Upgrades were chargeable but they released the updates for the EtherLan 500 & 600 ...

Saving a complete minipodule ROM & EtherLan100 ROM image

Sorry if this has been asked before (I tried searching) Is there a utility to Save a complete minipodule/podule ROM in situ? Re: Cut a RiscPC case to fit a CD-ROM drive?

The giveaway to spot a second slice is that it won't have the "Risc PC" screen printing on the flap. At least in theory, you shouldn't need a hot knife to cut through the plastic. It looks like the 5.25in covers push into the case and break away. Although I'm not keen to maul my pristine slices to ...

The versEPROM certainly looks like the UVIPROM So we'll try that.
Our ATPL AutoPrommer has no ROMS fitted but we should be able to use the versEPROM to program a pair for it.

Thanks!

USB podule for an A5000 To use USB Mouse & Keyboard?

A customer wants a USB podule for an A5000 so he can use a USB Mouse & Keyboard via a KVM. He's tried a Castle USB podule but that doesn't work. Anyone tried a Simtec USB Podule on RISC OS 3.1? I know Unipod has issues with 3.7 so doubt it would work and would be a very expensive option. Can anyone ...

I can confirm it is a CD Audio Mixer for Mk 1 or Mk 2 RiscPC motherboard. I suspect it is designated Yellowstone Mk2. It is much more common than the version on chris's Acorns.

My desolder station sucks!

The problem is it doesn't suck effectively in the literal sense. It is about 30 years old and we made very good use of it repairing BBC B etc. and fitting our A310 RAM boards but we didn't use it for 10+ years and now we have a need of one it is not working effectively, it sounds like it used to and...

On the RIscPC I did write the software to using the x86 card as the FPU. So if you have an 586-133MHz card that is probably the fastest FP Acorn machine.
What about the FP speed of an Aleph1 486Podule with CX83S87 fitted?

Though the pins will need straightening which hasn't caused us any issues when fitting.

We looked into an A310 PSU recently, it looks very like a BBC PSU inside, two of the normal 'smoking BBC caps' even had the same C number! and were/seemed (one was illegible) to be the same value.
