Electron ADFS games for HcX & GoTek floppy emulators

Postby rharper » Sat Apr 14, 2018 8:30 pm

Recently the HcX software has been updated so that ADFS discs (ADF, ADM & ADL) are properly converted to the HFE format. HcX and GoTek drives should be able to play these with an AP3 interface or as Drive2 on a Plus3.
Also following a recent FlashFloppy update the GoTek can play these files natively.
So for those very few (none?) who have such systems on an Electron here are the games.
They are provided as HFE & ADF and in A-Z publisher folders here http://rayharper.co.uk/stardot/ElkGotek.html
For HcX, HFE, expanded will need up to 2Gb of space.
There are substantially fewer images available in ADFS (367) compared with DFS format & a few of these are utilities.
Where they exist I have reduced the number of images by using compilations.

Note: I have altered the size of some files to the 320K standard so they can be converted to HFE and copied files to the menu image below with the excellent Beeb Image utility from 'Yellow Pig'.

Note2: To read ADF files FlashFloppy needs setting to host=acorn in FF.CFG.

I have generated a menu system for the above where the menu and the Emulator can be either Drive 1 or 2.
The menu prompts for the Drive to use for the game.
It allows selection from A-Z listed game titles or publishers, then prompts with the folder and image to load in the emulator.
It can run the game (*Dir :0 or 1 + *EXEC !Boot) or run the menu again + exit.
Alternatively I have attached the text csv database files that link the game to the image filename.

.

FYI HxC Gotek can also play ADFS discs (ADF, ADM, ADL...) natively.

Yes, but the original HcX (not GoTek) can't, hence the above HFE files.

Thanks for doing this Ray - an awesome effort! =D>
This is the impetus I needed to try getting hold of a Gotek I think...but I just need some spare time!
