Received and working fine. :-)

Looking the gift horse in the mouth, any chance of a 32016 core?

There's one on it - just remember it doesn't have the FPU! https://github.com/hoglet67/CoPro6502/wiki - m32632 core.

I cannot find a 32016 core! I've gone through the switch settings and have the following:
  • ACORN TUBE Z80 16Mhz
  • PDP11 TUBE 64K 0.5
  • ACORN TUBE 04MHz 65C102 Co-Proc
  • ACORN TUBE 80285 896K
  • ACORN TUBE Z80 56MHz
  • ACORN 68K Second Processor 1024K
  • ACORN TUBE 16MHz 65C102 Co-Proc
  • ACORN TUBE Z80 64K 1.21
  • ACORN TUBE Z80 32MHz
  • ACORN OK 64K
  • ACORN TUBE 08MHz 65C102 Co-Pro
  • 6809 TUBE 64K 1.00
  • ACORN TUBE Z80 112MHz
  • ACORN OS 65K
  • ACORN TUBE 32MHz 65C102 Co-Pro
  • ACORN TUBE 65C102 Co-Processor

I like the 65C102s - Mode 0 with BASIC HIMEM being 32768 (I think) is ace!

You've not got the ARM core showing up there either... You might not be setting one of the switches? They are small, and fiddly and do get confusing.

The most convenient way to select the copro is using *FX 151,230,n where n is the number from the list on the wiki page.

Try:

*FX 151,230,13

and hit break. That should give you the the 32016.

I think the build on there is just over a year old so doesn't have those cores loaded.
I've stuck with the Dec '15 build as there had been problems with newer builds
that I was unsure if have been resolved. The unit is upgradable if you have access
to a Xilinx programmer.

I've just tried and that gets me the "ACORN TUBE Z80 56 MHz".

My list order is messed up because when I went through all the DIP switch settings I had reversed the bits! I'll redo the list tonight in it's natural 0-15 order.

I didn't get very far in tracking this down:
http://www.stardot.org.uk/forums/viewto ... 80#p149580

Here's what I think is the current status

There have been 4 batches of boards:
- Prototype - November 2014 (2 units?)
- Batch 1 - December 2014 (40 units?) (Red boards)
- Batch 2 - December 2015 (50 units?) (Green boards)
- Batch 3 - September 2016 (20 units?) (Green boards)
- Batch 4 - December 2016 (20 units?) (Green boards)

LX9CoProCombined_20151215_1004_dmb - works with all batches (this is what you shipped with I think
LX9CoProCombined_20160228_1555_dmb - works on prototype and batch 1, 2; fails on batch 3, unknown of batch 4
LX9CoProCombined_20161110_1455_dmb - works on prototype and batch 1, 2; unknown on batch 3, 4

What's blocking me is that both of the boards I have (prototype and batch 2) work fine with all builds.

Do you have any of the batch 3 or batch 4 left that you could lend me to do some debugging?

Dave

Here are the switch setting for the version of firmware Jason has shipped the boards with (LX9CoProCombined_20151215_1004_dmb):

Hi Dave,

My board is from batch 4 and I'm happy to loan it to you if that's of any use.

Thanks for the offer. Can I come back to you on that?

Before we start shipping boards around, I'd like to get confirmation that there is actually an issue with the latest firmware (LX9CoProCombined_20161110_1455_dmb) on Batch 3/4 boards.

I think this combination is currently untested.

I sold every last one so I don't even have one myself right now!
I do have one last set of parts so I can solder one up but that
will be a batch 4... I don't have any batch 3 which is where there
was allegedly an incompatibility.

Sounds to me like testing a batch 4 is worthwhile. Jason, do you have any idea of a change which might have produced an incompatibility? Are batches 3 and 4 any different from each other?

As mentioned previously, all the PCBs are from the same batch as are most of the passives.
The more expensive items (FPGA, flash, RAM) were bought on a per batch basis.
In fact batch 4 has slightly different RAM to keep the cost sensible as the original has rocketed in price.

I shall hand solder up the last few components to create myself one last unit and try the latest build.

I'm not going to make any more, the part prices have gone up and I can't get more PCBs in low quantities at sensible prices.

Thanks for all your efforts, Jason - you've made a lot of people very happy!

Is there any chance you could share your design, in case someone else wants to take up the challenge?

I forgot to mention I do have 8 individual blank PCBs for anyone up for the challenge of soldering their own.

I shall share the design soon.

Hi Dave,

I have one from Batch 3 (Sept 2016) and can confirm I have just flashed it successfully with the latest version (LX9CoProCombined_20161110_1455_dmb). Tube Elite running fine etc.

May have just been an issue with one or two rather than a batch problem as such ?

Let me know if you want me to do anymore testing.

I use them for prototypes but their protopacks are single, loose boards and it is too much effort
to stencil, clean stencil, load and align such small PCBs on the P&P machine individually.
A panel of 10 makes sense but the cost (including postage) of a single 10 way panel is far greater
than the what I paid when I ordered 10x panels of 10.
Also, when doing panels, I tie up several hundred pounds worth of components in unsold stock
unless I get advanced orders for the whole panel.

Not to mention that the component costs have rocketed since I started the project.
This http://uk.farnell.com/1876228 was about £10 on the first batch.
The SRAM has gone crazy too.

In short, it's just not economical to do small quantities, expecially when demand has dropped
right off.
I have a small number of unpopulated individual PCBs if people wish solder up their own.

Hi everyone, if anyone is still reading this thread! I registered interest back in August 2015, but lost the thread and missed the link for ordering the following December... I still don't have one but still want one... is there any way of getting hold of one now or have I really missed the boat? Any suggestions welcome, except if it involves fiddly soldering :-)
Cheers, Tony

Can that emulate the whole range covered by the matchbox? I quite liked the idea of having a PDP11 at my fingertips once again!
