EDIT : There's a picture of the game DOOM
To my knowledge, it is slow as a crippled snail on an A1200 without an accelerator board ... so there could be a very good surprise for the buyer of this machine.

I'm not convinced those are amiga discs, the reason being that doom was not officially released on Amiga it was an open source conversion (the two I know of are AmiDoom and ADoom), and those are HD discs - the A1200 does not have a high density floppy drive, only the A4000 does (I think).

They look like PC disks to me, they have the instructions "Put disk into drive A: or B: and type Setup" :)

Interesting item. How do you route the floppy cable if it is plugged into a Plus One? Also, why does it have a battery? You might open it up and find a load of corroded tracks...

The ribbon cable folds up the side of the case - works quite well! The battery is for a RTC - leakage would be my concern. Maybe ask the seller for a photo with the lid off.

He withdrew it "because there was an error in the listing". Err. Now he has relisted a stack of Archimedes books and disks here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112421840352

..but no flipping computer!

(Edit: I looked at the original auction and it didn't include the machine either, so I have bid in haste here. I'm not bidding on the new listing, so go for it - seems like a good collection of stuff if you already have a machine.)

Another job lot of old junk:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142397043092

Although, it is getting more expensive. The seller is not known for offering fair prices, but as it's a proper auction, fair enough.

Possibly.

In Acorn litterature, the 'alpha' A5000 is the A5000 with an ARM3 running at 33Mhz.
The standard 'A5000' has an ARM3 running at 25 Mhz.

There's enough goop on that board to warrant getting the battery off quick and giving it th vinegar treatment before going any further!
