MAME Artwork

Postby Pernod » Fri Jan 03, 2014 4:02 pm

Can anyone provide hires scans of the keyboard overlays from BBC, Master, and Compact keyboards? Prefer PNG at highest possible resolution.

I don't need the whole overlay just the areas that contain text around the LED's and the Master Series and Acorn owl logos.

Anyone? I would've thought those of you that regularly service/sell would have parts around that you could quicky scan?

Hi Pernod,

I can upload the photos, but that's about all.
Is that OK?

I think scans (empty case upturned on flatbed) would be better quality, but if you can get hires photos (straight on, no angle) of all keyboard areas containing text/logos then they may be good enough.

I recently added functioning onscreen keyboard LED's to MESS, and would like quality artwork around them instead of plain black background and white text.

I don't need the perspex strip, just a closeup of the text around and including the LED's.

Same for the Compact but should also include the owl, and a separate image of the Compact logo to the lower-right of the keyboard.

The Electron only has the green LED but no text so nothing required.

See screenshot of my current MESS WIP. I want genuine images at the bottom of the screen around the LED's

Thanks.

I just had an attempt at scanning the lid from my issue 4. The problem is that a scanner doesn't work too well; the black part where the labels are written is actually indented from the case edge and so isn't touching the glass, and so is out of focus. Similarly the owl logo on the function key plexi-strip is out of focus.

You actually get better focus from a camera than from a scanner, but you're not likely to get the 90-degree angle that you want.

best I could do tonight, but will set up scanner at the weekend (or if it's sunny, but doubt that!), as mCompact has no lip, so should be better :-k

it's actually ok outside today  (but cold, snowing yesterday!), so here is some without flash (the flash was too much reflection)
Will try scanner too if these are still not good enough, but it's buried at the moment, and a new printer with scanner should of been here yesterday (cheaper to buy new printer than ink for it  )

Many thanks, they should be good enough. The Compact logo is a little out of focus but should be able to clean it up.

Continuing with this little project I'd like to request some more photos. I'm looking for good monitor photos of:

- Microvitec CUB
- Acorn Business Machine/Cambridge Workstation (monitor including drives)
- LTM Portable (front of unit excluding keyboard)
- Torch Computer (front of unit excluding keyboard)
- BT M2105 (monitor only)
- any Acorn badged monitor AKF11/ADF32

Photos must be without flash in good light and taken as close to front on as possible.
I already have a CUB image from jsBeeb but would prefer a higher res/cleaner image, and the ABM/LTM/Torch must include the whole monitor/base unit including any in-built drives.
The objective is to do what jsBeeb does with the monitor bezel but to also represent other machines.
