DISC 69
HELPFUL HARRY loads as "Harry the helpful Hippo" and in the instructions on the 'losing a life' screen, it says "without hving collcted" which should be "without having collected"

HACKER 2000 - the function keys are full of 'stuff' I don't know if this will affect the game??

HUNCHY - when jumping for the bell, hunchy lands one level lower and begins walking through the wall. This must be a bug!

That's it for 69.

I will check dugdig and the others again in the morning.

Cheers,

Lee.

Just starting 68 now - will edit this post when done.

MB068

All good, just the usual question about do "we" change in-game instructions.

Frogger p. 3 at bottom says "crocofiles"

Pettigrew's Diary - on menu has apostrophe, in title no apostrophe, but apostrophe seems correct.

Confrontation - as per Mick's post - choose number 7 BEFORE you choose number 1.

Splurge "Hi SPLURGE easter" ... think it is meant to be eater - no easter bunnies here!

Hippo Quest "In search for [sic - should be OF?] gold treasure you attack and [sic] Indian castle"

On a side note: Exiz - this asks to use the SWRAM on my machine, so I must have it on here - need to do some RTFMing and understand what I've got vs. what Dunjunz etc. need.

Yes, I see this as well - unless you jump at exactly the right spot, you miss the bell and can go round the screen, scrubbing out the wall as you go.

If you jump in the right spot, you ring the bell and go to the next level.

But is this an old bug from BITD or something new (well, whatever "new" means in this context!?)

Good work Richard, that's the first 70 checked.
I will leave it up to Mick to decide whether to change instructions that were published incorrectly in the first place.... :-k

The only ones that have real issues seem to be:

Disk 007 Eagle Empire CRASHES
Disk 029 Aabatron has CONTROL PROBLEMS
Disk 030 One Last Game has CONTROL PROBLEMS
Disk 036 JOUSTER has MAIN SPRITE MISSING
Disk 041 The Big K.O. has GRAPHICS PROBLEMS
Disk 060 Dunjunz CRASHES (file not found at line 515) (SWR req in 4 & 5) **
Disk 069 HUNCHY character walks through walls...
Disk 070 HOLED OUT Graphics problems (SWR req in 4 & 5) **
** Could do with a loader that checks for SWR and loads into any available socket - I think the DUNJUNZ loader is SUPPOSED to do this?

Richard, I think maybe AABATRON and ONE LAST GAME maybe being interfered with by datacentre using the same work space in the same way that BUG EYES was.
I am unable to check with my retarded recollection of all things 6502 but maybe, just maybe you could step through and notice something??

:D

Yep, Lee, I'll have a look at the above list to (a) see if I get the same issues (b) see if I can figure out about SWRAM (this is a good way to learn stuff!) and (c) see if I can do anything useful!

Thanks.

Hmmm, a mixed bag here

BBC B with DataCentre.

Disk 007 Eagle Empire CRASHES
Yes, know about this one - one day I will take a quiet week and disassemble the game and fix this!

Disk 029 Aabatron has CONTROL PROBLEMS
Can't see this - works fine for me unless I start the game with M. (What is M for, anyway?)

Disk 030 One Last Game has CONTROL PROBLEMS
Can't see this - works fine for me.

Disk 036 JOUSTER has MAIN SPRITE MISSING
Can't see that anything is missing - the controls are a bit weird - you choose a direction and then it zooms that way until to choose the other direction - but there is a sprite there.

Disk 041 The Big K.O. has GRAPHICS PROBLEMS
Hangs my BBC completely. Get some title screens, then blank, and gone.

Disk 060 Dunjunz CRASHES (file not found at line 515) (SWR req in 4 & 5) **
SWR on my TODO/RTFM list.

Disk 069 HUNCHY character walks through walls...
Confirmed

Disk 070 HOLED OUT Graphics problems (SWR req in 4 & 5) **
** Could do with a loader that checks for SWR and loads into any available socket - I think the DUNJUNZ loader is SUPPOSED to do this?
SWR on my TODO/RTFM list.

EDIT - looked up SWRAM (never had it BITD) and I think my machine will have banks 11 and 15 as SWR, and my experiments so far make me think that I am on the right track!

Keep on snooping with the SWR Richard :D

The games on disc 29 and disc 30 (Aabatron and one last game) are a bit intermittent. sometimes they work and sometimes they don't - which is a pain., but as a rule, they work from cold and are more likely to give problems when you have previously loaded a few other games in.......

Am I the only one who has no main sprite on Jouster?!
Just to be clear, the screen fills with 2 birds and you should 'generate' on the platform in the centre of the screen. I just get a small line. This exact behaviour happens on my real beeb AND on Beebem :? Maybe I am looking at this wrong??
Let me have another play...

Hmmm...
I am removing Jouster from the list..... :D
I think it is a case of me seeing something on the first play then always expecting to see it.... and indeed I am looking at it the wrong way

I DO get a small line in the middle of the screen and I thought that was me.
Couple that with the fact that the 'real' main sprite is always moving, with no input from the keyboard, and it changes colour every time you re-spawn.... well.... how was I supposed to know

REMOVED (except if the small line counts as a graphics problem  )

Yes, it's a bit weird - it looks like two crazy birds bouncing around and it takes a while to twig that one is marginally under your control ...

I'll try the control issue pair later (same programmer, aren't they?) - I was playing from cold so that might be why it worked for me. I'll try them after playing a few other games on the discs and see if I can get anything to go wrong.

Not sure what to do next on the SWR - I've got banks 11 & 15 and those games want 4 & 5. The DUNK file in DUNJUNZ has lots of SWR code - but says I haven't got ANY banks so that seems a bit amiss (but what would I know?!)

Have you tried this little piece of code from Sweh?

10 DIM D% 1024
20 FOR A=0 TO 2 STEP 2
30 P%=D%
40 [OPT A
50 SEI
60 LDA &F4
70 PHA
80 LDX #0
90 .lp
100 STX &FE30
110 LDA &8007
120 EOR #&AA
130 STA &8007
140 CMP &8007
150 BNE rom
160 EOR #&AA
170 STA &8007
180 LDA #ASC("W")
190 JSR &FFEE
200 JMP nxt
210 .rom
220 LDA #ASC("r")
230 JSR &FFEE
240 .nxt
250 INX
260 CPX #16
270 BNE lp
280 JSR &FFE7
290 PLA
300 STA &FE30
310 CLI
320 RTS
330 ]
340 NEXT
350 CALL D%

It will give you a 'r' for read only and a 'w' for writable or RAM in that socket.
Results are from 0-15

Hi Mick,
I have just looked through the latest additions to the instructions.
The only things I can see are:
Disc 3: Space Invaders should be "Space Invaders (Superior)."
Disc 6: Digger instructions "breath fire" should be "breathe fire"
Cheers.

Hi Mick,

Latest things I have spotted:

Disc 3: Zalaga "Bonusus" should be "Bonuses"

Disc 5: Fruity Freddy, page 2 of the instructions - "Grap the can" should be "Grab the can" and "Catapillar" should be "Caterpillar" **BOTH OF THESE ARE SPELLED INCORRECTLY ON THE ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS

Disc6: Heist page 3, "Burgar" should be "Burglar" and "diffuse" should be "defuse" and "diffusing" should be "defusing".
page 4 "banks" should be "bank's"

Disc 9 Sea Lord: "Boomed over to your radio" should be "Boomed over your radio"
Also, the line "(strange shaped rocks those!)" is missing. Is this to fit it onto one page?

Disc 10: roboman OK
Cheers,
Lee.
