The £ sign in variable names?

Postby jregel » Tue Jul 25, 2017 8:04 am

I'm reading through the AMX SuperArt manual and disk and there are a set of routines that are designed to make WIMP interfaces easy. The provided code prefixes the variable names with a "£" and I've not come across this before:

Code: Select all

30010 DEFPROCinit
30020    DIM £M$(5),£I%(5),£T%(5),£X%(5),£H%(5)
30030    DIM £block 18,£menu 256
30040    !£block=0
30050 ENDPROC

What (if any) is the significance of the "£"?

Thanks

No significance.

Variable/function names in BBC basic may contain £ and underscore (_) characters as well as letters and digits. £ and _ may also start a variable name, so variables such as £1, £5 and _ are perfectly legal.
