Most Played/Downloaded

Now that the site content seems to be quite stable I'm curious as to how much traffic it's getting.

A nice feature would be some kind of stats page that shows most Played/Downloaded. Once such a page gets some reasonable stats collected it would be a good place to start for anyone not familiar with BBC games.

I did consider doing something like what you suggested, but it is not on the spec, so the priority is very low. I am reworking search at the moment to try and get it more dynamic.

However jsbeeb does have google analytics embedded, so I changed the code and can see what is most played online, though not what is downloaded as it just serves the file - there is no code triggered to count it (It might be possible for someone to look at the logs, but I can't see them).

Since 9th July there were 224 plays. The top ten are:

Code: Select all

6 - Disc094-ArrowOfDeathPt1.ssd
5 - Disc021-EliteD.ssd
5 - Disc091-LostCity.ssd
5 - Disc110-2048.ssd
4 - Disc002-Arcadians.ssd
4 - Disc003-Zalaga.ssd
4 - Disc008-3DGrandPrix.ssd
4 - Disc013-Alien8.ssd
3 - Disc001-Swoop.ssd
3 - Disc010-Blitzkrieg.ssd

The site needs to become more popular and have more people playing on it to get more interesting stats.

Is it ready to be "advertised"?

I would have thought so. I already got it mentioned on the retrocomputing round table podcast (Episode 129), and noticed a slight increase in usage after that.

The site is still being improved and updated, but I don't think that is a reason not to advertise it.
