So nobody else is having issues with this game freezing or doing weird stuff like the previous screen?

Really? Or is there a bug that's known about by everyone but me.... hmmmmmm.

One more thing I've noticed under BeebEm is that after I've been playing on the game for a while when I'm on wave 2 in the 'tunnel', the ramps are drawn incorrectly.... ie: They are broken vectors so you really have no escape route and must crash ending the game you're in. I've ended up ending a few really good scores there and looked to better my current score but.... I'll never know.

Well, I tested this in JSBeeb and it seems to work ok, well, at least once through I got to level 4 without weird glitches so maybe there are issues with BeebEm with StarWars.

Valiant effort at porting this game to the Beeb, but it slows down to slideshow framerates at times...

I haven't noticed any bugs, but I'm not using an emulator. I'll have a go with BeebEm, would be good to fix it if there is an emulation bug.

New high score: 391,906

Nothing that bad, but I do occasionally have an "impossible" trench to navigate, with lines going everywhere. I use BeebEm too.

I find it does get really really slow and unresponsive on the towers section.

I'm using JSBeeb now and it's a bit better but.... as you play the game several times I find that on the trenches in wave 2 eventually get impossible to navigate. This is consistent. I think there is an issue with the drawing of them because of some kind of bug in the game. The solution? Reload the game from scratch. I also found it quite difficult to change the keys in BeebEm but works easier in JSBeeb.

EDIT: I've also noticed that once the 'impossible' trenches start happening, it continues until a reset. I think the problem is with the catwalk drawing routine. I don't know how the program is programmed but that's where I'd start looking if I had the interest.

I agree with you about the towers section. The best I've ever done there is down to 5 left.

Yeah.. it's slightly better on JSBeeb.... ;)

EDIT: Looks like we're competing for second here anyway, chrisn is in a different league :)

Improved score, would of been more if I hadn't of missed the exhaust port, because I was trying to avoid a fireball !

JSBeeb still gets the 'impassible' catwalks after a few tries so requires a soft reset and start of the game.

Does this happen on real hardware, can anyone confirm this?

Thanks,

Cracked 100k finally... still no where near the top :-k

Haven't noticed any wall issues on beebem but maybe I haven't play it enough?

If you've played it about 5 or 6 times it starts to show up on wave 2 as impassible and weirdly drawn catwalks. I think they are always supposed to be straight across the tunnel and after a few times they start to morph in a way where it's virtually impossible to get through them.

I met that problem on the 3rd time I went through the tunnel on my high score but fortunately it only manifested on the last couple of catwalks. Those also had gaps in them and since there doesn't seem to be consistency in the drawing of them, I'm pretty sure it's a bug.

New high score. (just) and not noticed any weirdness or strange things goings on, seems to play fine on BeebIT.

Do you leave BeebIT running all the time or do you restart it anew when you get a chance to play?

I notice this happening after about 5 or 6 times through. As far as I know, the catwalks should always be horizontal across the 'tunnel' at any level. It's just that they seem to get more of them as you increase the levels.

What's actually happening is all of a sudden the drawing of the catwalks becomes 'random' in that they no longer go only across but up, down, sideways..... some of them have no way through them without losing a life, others have a tiny gap that with luck you can get through but I'm pretty sure it's a bug. Surely this isn't caused by my Windows 10 machine, is it?

Ok, here is an example of how the catwalks should look versus how they look when abnormal. You have to look carefully at the abnormal one because it's not the best example but you can see the catwalks are not drawn all the way across and the pattern is random. I don't believe this was intended in the program but it seems few are having this issue besides me.

Ed...... :-)

NormalCatwalks.png
This is what they should look like.....see that the catwalks go all the way across uniformly

AbnormalCatwalks.png
These are not drawn correctly. Mostly the catwalks only go part way across and then the draw starts on another catwalk which is also only partly drawn across. This never happens when the game is freshly loaded so I believe something is overwriting the draw area somehow or there is simply a bug.
