I had this one back in the day on one of those Tynesoft "Four great games" compilations. Don't think I've played it since... I remember it being a little bit frustrating, but not bad.

There was an Amiga port of this as well... and the graphics didn't actually look much better than the BBC version did.

Took me over 20 games to get on the HiScore table (just!) - a "bit" frustrating!

Haha... played this just now. It's every bit as brutal as I remember :) - I get the feeling that not everybody's going to be impressed with this game. But I kinda like it (in a masochistic way).

Got to level 5 (which is just about as far as I got BITD). It throws you in at the deep end - levels 3 and 4 are a lot easier than levels 1 and 2. Rather optimistic to give this game 22 levels, a lot of players probably never got past the first two...

ok, this is a tough one, have seen 2nd level but only 4 times out of many, many tries. This is going to be a real challenge for folks, it's not just a 'get to where you want' but also a really tough puzzle type game.

Using savestates for practice games to perfect your strategy is definitely very helpful. Obviously use of savestates is not permitted on a high-score run :)

I might give this game a go on real hardware - seems like it's one of those games that needs absolutely precise timing that only real hardware with a 50Hz CRT can provide.

More hints:
- Swings can be a real pain. If you want to jump off them, make sure you press the direction key and jump at the same time, rather than pressing the direction key slightly before the jump key as you would do for a standing jump. Pressing the direction key first will result in you walking off the swing rather than jumping - which can be useful in some circumstances. Sometimes it's also useful to let the swing swing backwards a bit from its top point before jumping or walking off, as well.
- There are often red-herring platforms that you don't need to walk on, but are just there to trick you into doing the level the wrong way.

I got to level 7 too...

I think we can agree on that :) But no saving/loading in high-score runs as you say.

- Swings can be a real pain.

Press jump and keep it pressed and see (and hear) what happens ;) Makes swings/jumping quite easy.

Ah yes, thanks for that :) That makes things a bit considerably easier.

Well, another move up slowly but at least got to level 4... another of those games that if you do well in a level, your score suffers somewhat.....

One more point ahead, boy is this one ever slow going. The only thing that's good is I got to level 4 again and got 1/2 way through it twice....before...um....expiring.

Got to level 12. 2560.

Level 13 is a real pain - I haven't even got past it using savestates yet. I know what's got to be done, but I just can't do it right...

I struggled a bit with 13, but finally made it. Level 14 and 15 are a bit easier, but level 16 is another hard level with many tough jumps..

I got to level 14 (managed to somehow do level 13 without losing a life!), but I didn't have my level 14 strategy down pat so ended up losing my last few lives. Also got a slightly lower score than my level 12 score.

I've completed the game using savestates, so I know all the levels *can* be done... it's just that doing it is easier said than done. I don't think I'm going to catch Tom =D>

Level 16 is hard, 17 medium/easy, 18 very hard (gives me most frustration), 19-20 medium, 21 hard, 22 ultra easy, so yes it's doable. But when you reach level 18 you normally only have a couple of lives left so the last levels are a real pain. You're starting to lose focus and stupid mistakes seems inevitable.. I havn't given up reaching level 22 and the big cheese in the end, but it's certainly nothing I can take for granted. It's still one week left, so we'll see
