Artwork on the Music 500 manual

Postby riggar » Sun Sep 10, 2017 10:21 pm

Does anyone know who did the artwork on the cover of the Music 500 manual? It's a great picture. I had a copy but can't find it! - Just wondered if it's credited there? see http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/ ... nthesizer/ to remind yourself. Many thanks

I don't, but there's not much to make me want a supercharged BBC Micro besides something like the Hybrid.

That is a wonderful piece. Like this article: http://www.muzines.co.uk/articles/boppi ... e-bbc/3383

I've a couple of my own candidates for good BBC Micro music artwork. Maybe we can ask the publishers who did what, if they are still open.

I think this Quicksilva one comes a close second to the one you picked.

Actually no, this one!

Art like this is worth having on display. The tape case is a good enough frame, I found.

The compositional elements are reminiscent of some of the Electron promotional materials. AMP18 Masterpieces of Software from Acornsoft for the Electron has a different style and is a bit more surreal, however.

I imagine that there are other works by the same artist amongst Acorn's brochures.

Wait a minute, those hands are disembodied.

Point of fact, they've been RIPPED off!

And OH MY GOD, here is the Music 500 on MICRO LIVE: https://vhistory.wordpress.com/2016/02/ ... -tape-176/

Plus mention and play of the SFX SOUND EXPANDER for the C64, which I have. No MIDI cart for it yet but one was available after the show aired, which I also have. More or less similar to the to a 500 in terms of impressive sound, without using MIDI hooked to something real for any big sounds.
