Hi, Stuart.

Is this the Acorn BBS "server" you've been looking for?

Or a BBS client so that you can access boards?

I wonder every now and then how your quest is going! :D

Hey Richard, good of you to ask! I'm equipped now with RS423 and Commstar, so I have everything I need to dial out and connect to BBS's - Arcade BBS is one of two in the UK that are still accepting connections in that way (most these days are telnet only rather than dial up)..

The Holy Grail still eludes me: that being the software necessary to host my own BBS on my Electron. I was in contact with a chap a couple of years ago who ran one on his Elk bitd and had written some software to allow that called EBBS. This was adapted from OBBS for the Beeb. We were talking and he was going to send it to me, but the contact went dark and I didn't hear any more. He sent me a ROM image, but it won't function without the software to go alongside :-(

The quest continues, but at least my Elk can connect to anyone else on the phone ;-) speaking of which, if anyone ever fancies a chat at 300 baud, DM me for phone number - it would be cool for my Elk to take a call (even if it isn't running a BBS lol)

What bits have you got?

The OBBS ROMs and x2 discs and the EBBS ROM?

I'm hunting round the forums and find mention of you having this stuff but no uploads (one link (that still works) to the OBBS manual.)

Just wondering from the bits you have got how far you'd be from re-creating EBBS by reverse engineering. :-k Probably too big a project but wondering how big ... :?:

At the moment I've got the EBBS rom and that's it. I did have the OBBS floppy images but they were on an old laptop that died. I need to find those links again ;-)

That would be good; I can't see the ROMs (OBBS or EBBS) or disc images (OBBS) anywhere ... might be looking in the wrong places. :D

I will find the old thread and upload the EBBS rom image that I have... No idea where the OBBS are but I found them somewhere online! Will hunt :-)

Or should I start a new thread?

Either is fine. I had a bit of a rummage this morning and couldn't find the obbs disk images. Might be worth asking Jon again?
