Stardot merchandise?

Postby Elminster » Fri May 05, 2017 10:20 pm

Just wondering with the up and coming show in Cambridge, how about making stardot t-shirts, to proudly show my allegiance. I already have Beeb and raspberry pi tshirts.

Or we could just have a secret handshake.

As I think the StarDot logo is a work of genius, that does sound like an excellent idea :-)

But no, I'm not volunteering to do it, organising enough stuff already!

I got a retro software one of Arcadian, but usually display it on a hanger as it has a large plastic square on the chest.

PS I'm not suggesting we all try and squeeze in together, but in my own way requesting that if someone does offer to make some that they don't have large plastic sections stuck in the fabric.

Dave's tshirts

Might have to get a RH tshirt when the AP5 is ready Do you have child sizes? I can kit my daughter up and get you some free advertising.

But if we can get some stardot ones make sure we get some medium and small. I got a free tshirt the other day and they only had large and XL, looks like I am wearing a tent. Plus the wife always has to have one or she get jealous, she is a secret retro fan (well really she just likes clothes)

I have been wearing one trouser leg higher than the other and a red incarnation in my top button hole. But not been told about the secret handshake yet.

Just don't try for the secret handshake while a member is holding a hot iron (soldering that is...)

Here's quite a nice T-shirt, which is an homage to (and/or a direct rip-off of) an Acornsoft gamebox cover design:

The same artist has also recreated Citadel and Exile artwork:

I did indeed but since I'm not heavily into the finer nuances of computer graphics imagery, all my originals are probably too low-res to be useful for re-imaging projects. Hence, I handed the design over to our own Keckse Bak (another Dave) for final forum-ready processing so either if he's looking in [Dave ?] or if you PM him, I imagine he'll still have a polished version - he's a regular grand master dude at these things.... =D> 8)

If we had an "official" T shirt on Zazzle or similar then I'd probably buy one :-)

Hi Martin! I'm at work at the moment, but I've got the Stardot logo as an SVG which I'll upload when I get home later. I've got lots of Beeb stuff as SVG if you want to make up some t-shirts.

And a big Hi to you too Dave! :D

That'd be great thanks, it's not for me per se but for my esteemed colleagues here on Stardot and as you know, if I posted an image it'd not be much more than Crayola on cardboard.....

So if Dave can get the images posted does anyone fancy the challenge of designing a tshirt? There is a print shop in Newcastle that can do laser transfers quickly and I'd be willing to get a small number printed for collection at Cambridge. We'd need to move quickly on this though. Dave, would you have the Retro Hardware Logos too? If so, could you upload those as well - Thanks.

Any idea of the cost? Roughly. I had a quick look on the website and seems to be a 'contact us' type thing. I should think I could get one. My only issue is my wife will be jealous and make me buy one for her and my daughter (or else).

Just in case I did a quick tshirt with my name written across it, hopefully will arrive in next day or two.

Which gives me another idea, stardot tshirt with my name across it ...... I guess if the design is made public domain then people could weak and upload to one of the online shops. Either way I would still take one from a small run.

I'd go for a dotty BBC Owl if anyone has a suitable image of that for printing.

Just emailed them and after a short discussion I asked how much for a logo on the front at the top left and the web URL across the shoulders and got the following reply:
White t-shirts would be the easier way of doing it then, the cost is £10 per top and with our t-shirts £12.50 each
Hope this helps
George

So that would seem to be £10 if I go and buy some t-shirts separately or £12.50 for them to supply t-shirts. These are approximate as I couldn't give them the logo.

Anyone interested?

I'd go for that - two mediums please.

Or if it's a black tee with a white logo even better!

Sounds like a very good price. And would be interested. A medium, small and if feasible a child, but if too hard. Just a medium will do.

OK, this looks like it's gonna happen. Here's a few points I'd like to make first:

  1. I've never used this company before and their stuff could be rubbish, it's unlikely as they've been in business for years but just making the point that I'm not responsible for whatever might go wrong.
  2. We are up against it in terms of time. I can collect the shirts on Friday morning so we need to get orders in asap. I'm going to email them to see when the latest I can order and still collect Friday am.
  3. I've already got orders for 5 = £62.50 so I'm going to need to collect payment before placing the order. I'll pm everyone my paypal address when you request a shirt.
  4. If Dave doesn't come back with the graphic in time we can either forget the whole thing or use something else - any ideas? A dotty owl would do for me if anyone has a good image of it.

I'm attaching an SVG file and a PNG of the Stardot logo - the PNG has a transparent background and is 600 dpi which should be OK for T-shirt use, but if you download Inkscape you can play with the SVG to your heart's content.

Simon . . .

If Dave has the Retro Hardware Logo artwork (?) I'd like 4 x Large, in Black, just as in the photos above, please - No problem with any extra payment.

Dave (arcadian) had the first one made - Maybe that supplier would be an alternative?

Thank you for the graphics!

DaveH, do you need them for this weekend? If Dave can upload the graphics I can do that, or maybe he could give you the previous supplier details and order through them as then at least you know what you are getting.

No, just the Retro Software logos - I didn't design the Retro Hardware logos. Got other logos though - BBC Micro, Archimedes, etc.
