It's what Aleph1 used for the 2nd generation PC podules for Archimedes, at 25MHz and (using SLC2) 50MHz. Plus 387 FPU socket, parallel, serial, FDC, IDE, one SIMM slot (max 16MB) - but no option for dedicated graphics.

What's on the Vortex aside from the 486?

The Vortex has 387 socket, FDC and IDE connectors, 4 simm slots (max 16mb). The vortex enables the amiga's other 2 (or 3 in the case of the A4000) ISA slots so you can add vga card, sound card etc.

I ordered them on... 3rd feb? So that's 13 days to make/ship by standard mail. Not bad! Solder resist isn't perfect, but that's fine.

Thank you, yes, I don’t consider myself a collector but they compliment my other bits and bobs pretty well :D

Those valves look great on display. I shall have to 'rescue' some of mine from my shed and put them on show in my man cave.

I have one very similar to the valve in the centre but mine is on a B5 base with an indirectly heated cathode. Yours being B4 points to it being a directly heated cathode, probably with a 2v heater. What is its ID number - L2 ?

I can’t find any other numbers on it apart from the type, Mazda U65/550.

I do like valves, swastikas and all sorts (AM = air ministry = British equivalent for balance ) on them.

I think this UV-199 is my oldest at the moment but I have another one on the way from the 1920s too.

Thanks for the detailed photos.

The U65/550 is a rectifier valve from 1929. The one I thought it might be was an audio triode.

I'll definitely dig my valves out and photo a few. I have one which is held together with a nut and bolt inside the glass envelope!

My earliest are from the 30s but the bulk of my valves date from the 50s.
