I remember seeing some 20 odd years ago, a spoof teletext program that I'm certain came with Bored of the Rings. It looked just like Ceefax and you could type a three figure page number in to take you to another page.

I couldn't find this in the STH archive on the BOTR imagse - anybody else remember this and know where I can find a copy?

RE: Bored of the Rings - Teletext Spoof
Hiya,

Yep, the Ceefax spoof in question did indeed come with Bored of the Rings, and was bolted onto the end of the BOTM tape. It could be opened using the password "Don't ask us", which was displayed on-screen upon finishing BOTM itself.

Not sure if it does appear on this site's image of BOTM, but if not, I'll dig out my original tape and do the necessary.
It looks like the program is called skeptical. I have it UEFed but the other side of my tape is erased.

Thanks Jeremy - will be good to have a flick through it again

Apologies for chasing you for this, but is there any sign of the BOTR UEF or Disk image yet?
I'll send a UEF image of side 2 of the tape if you give me your email address.

Re: BOTR UEF
Hi Fraser,

I set up a temporary email address at yahoo for you to email this to as I get a bit nervous about spiders/crawlers picking up my real email address off of web pages and then sending me whole bundles of spam (what IS the collective name for SPAM). So if you get a mo, could you please forward the UEF image to:

mr_melchett@yahoo.co.uk

Have you also submitted the UEF to the STH archive, as I reckon it should be there too

Thanks again for your time and effort on this!

Hiya,

Glad you've been able to make available a copy of "Don't Ask Us" via the UEF route - it proved surprisingly resistant to my attempts at tape to disk copying in the first instance!
Tins of SPAM. Or for massive amounts, possibly Crates.
