how do you play this, does it have all the DAT1-8 files from the .WAV file/s from both sides of tape?

just looked at them, and they are Left only, and had to boost /gain them by 15-20db

usually with my normal version, I press 1 then Space, and off it then goes :?

It's taken from the disk version.
Select 1 - 8 then <SPACE> and it'll get the correct DAT? and run the game... unless there's some incompatibility with certain DFSs that has crept in

yes, on 1770FDC DFS2.26 (as always), it does not even like *OPT 2,1 in the Trivial file,
but goto20 then gets me to intro scn, but no further :x

still says"Insert Data Tape" top left, so hence why thought was the tape version hacked....

Think you must be getting it confused with another SSD, this one says "INSERT DATA DISK.ENTER BLOCK.PRESS FIRE" :?

^yeah #-o tonnes of files all over the place... :x

just got my original Genus edition working, used MMFS back to 31/2" then UPURS into laptop, so now 200k not 3k :?
seems I had the 40T disc version (going by manual), hence the two discs, below for completeness.

how does one get past the Question /Answer, when it says "did you get it right (yes no)" :-s

AFAIK the game was supplied on 2 disks... The first having drive 0 being 40 track and containing the game code. Once this is loaded, based on an earlier check, DRIVE 2 is issued to access DAT1-8 on the 80 track drive 2, or you're prompted to replace the game disk with a question disk, side A or B depending on which set of questions you're answering.
That's how Genus, Baby Boomer and Young Players editions all were... I just saved off the game code and copied the DATs over to make things simpler.
+ since the data disc is > 100KB, it must be more than 40 track? :?
