HDF with VirtualRPC

Postby Trapper » Sat Apr 30, 2016 8:13 pm

Can you open .hdf hard drive images with Virtual RPC-SA?

I’m having to use it as I just cannot get RPCEmu networked properly.

I’m trying to copy everything from dozens of emulation folders onto my RISC PC and sort it out. After that I’d like to take an image of it and load it up into an emulator?

This is also something I'm very interested by.

Could you try cdfaker :
http://www.huber-net.de/cdfaker.html

and report how well or not it's working ? (And which system you've used)

Thanks a lot in advance,
Xavier.

I use CDFaker on my A3000 and as long as the image fits inside a 512MB partition, then it works really well.

Interesting.

Have you tried it with Arculator and through the bridge, PC shared, 'ArculFS' hard drive ?
This way you'd lift off the 512MB limit.

I don't know CD faker very well and assume (certainly wrongly) that it doesn't provide CDFS, so which version are you using on your RO 3.1x machine ?
I wonder because when I read this thread :
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=11034
it seems not all versions of CDFS are worth using.

The CDFS modules are installed on the EEPROM that sits on my Simtec 8-bit IDE module. Version wise, they're the latest ones available for the Simtec board and can be downloaded and flashed to the board using the Simtec !Snafu application.

CDFaker is itself easy to use. Install the module, follow the very simple instructions to configure a CD-ROM drive and that's pretty much it.
